Drake,NYS is full of as***les, trust me. It's not just NYC. i could tell a story of why I moved to KY even tho i own the place there and am renting down here but, another day maybe. As far as the other ones, well, I like Brian's advise. I have not had any of those problems yet. Have had some inquiries but they have been pleasent.
Every state has it's arsehats, including our own, as evidence by the dude who spoke of the cane. I think I was just more or less shocked and suprised by the sheer aggressive, and hostility I faced by people behind me, and people ahead of me, at a Kentucky wal-mart. I mean, I'd expect something like that if I LGOC'd, or OC'd in say Ohio or in L-ville, but not in a town whose population is just under 3k people. I am thankful, largely in part to my Hi-point brand, and the heavy trigger pull strength, because if I had been carrying my old Taurus PT100, I'm pretty sure I would have had an ND/AD when that chick bumped me with her cart.
Something that I've honestly had trouble figuring out is this; Okay, I was by far the -MOST- calm, and patient person in line there. People were shoving carts into each other to force their way into a spot in line. My submissiveness and politeness lost me a half dozen spots in line because I didn't want to be rude, and just let someone go ahead of me. To say the least I was just being me, doing what I do. Nothing out of the ordinary. And, because I was OC'ing, I did not want to come across as aggressive, or aggitated in the smallest of ways, just so no one could say "He was yelling and had his gun in his holster and I had to call 911 because I thought he was going to kill me" and such. So, why on earth, would someone think it to be a good idea, to proclaim and brag about harming someone else, who has been calm, quiet, and passive, solely for their gun? WHY would ANYONE think it to be a good idea to bump and hit a guy with a cart while talking about how stupid the locals are? I mean, it would have taken a lot to provoke an aggressive response out of me, short of posing an immediate and real threat to my life, that is. But still... What makes a person think it is a good idea, in general, to try to provoke someone who is carrying a gun?! Would they have said and done the same thing if I was a cop? or if I was LGOCing? What if I had decided to wear a business suit? or what if I opted to wear some thuggish gansta outfits?
Seriously, I cannot fathom or understand that logic, and it seriously scares me, it scares me that unarmed sheeple are so careless as to put their lives, and the lives of the carrier, in possible danger, just because they can.
And Brain; That was amusing, and imaginative. I lack the on-the-spot imagination to come up with amusing quips like that, but, I doubt I would have done such a thing, I would have hate to spend the night in a county jail because an anti thought I was threatening them back and had the tool to make it into a real threat and deal with the headaches and such.
But, this isn't deterring me from OC'ing, if anything, it's made me want to OC my revolver and my Hi-point as well, but I think the sheer weight of both would break my hip.
Happily though, the iPad line was clear and smooth with no issues whatsoever. I OC'd in the line with no problems at all, a couple stink eyes, but no bumping, shoving, or passive threats. I wonder if affluence has anything to do with confrontation behaviors. Or maybe iPad users are just more stable.
