As I recommended on another thread, a Kahr Arms .40 or .45. These guns are very well put together and small, lightweight, and pack a punch. $600 or therebouts will get one and they have several sizes. Small, medium, and full size combat. I'm seriously considering a Kar 4345. Carries a 5&1 and fits in a jacket pocket.

Thanks for all the excellent advice guys.But I did go with the Bersa thunder .380.She was quite pleased and is becoming quite competent with it now.Its a great shooting little pistol and easy for her to handle and carry.
