OK, this post is about the chrome finish I'm getting done to my compact 1911. The frame will be finished in hard chrome, the slide wil be finished in a checkered pattern (.75 inch squares in brush and satin chrome) similar to that of the checkered flag you see at the end of the race. This will be done to commemorate my first year in Charlotte, home of NASCAR. The work is being done by Duane Davis from Elite Custom Plating and Weaponry (www.elitecustomguns.com), he is even adding a Wilson Combat thumb safety. This is the same guy that does all the work for Wilson Combat, among other custom guns. His shop is down the road from my house, so I feel lucky. Pictures will follow...
Disclaimer: "The Racist" is a play on words. It is a combination of the idea of a race gun and the term shootist. The checkered pattern should bring it all together. Those of you who know me, know that the conventional definition of the term "racist" is no implication of my personal views. I find bigotry in all its forms appalling, and reiterate that I do not imply that this firearm has any ties to racism (or any isms for that matter). However, in this world of political correctness we sometimes need to explain our actions so that the growingflockof modernAmericans isn't offended.
