So they choose to only allow licensed people. That's their right, whether or not you need a license to open carry, if that's what they choose as their requirement.

Your state doesn't require a liscense to OC? The store insists you have one?

Type up the Second Amendment (verbatum), put it on a wallet-sized card, have it laminated (or get clearContact paper from Walmart ;))and carry THAT with you. Next time you go there, if they ask, tell them you ARE Licensed.

If they ask to see it, show them 2A.:celebrate

If they give you more grief, give them the name and phone number of the WalMart POC at Corporate (listed on another thread very recently, so do a search) that stated their stores follow each state's laws.

Bah...

How many times have we seen the media talk about "licensed" gun owners when there is no license needed? I'm guessing they just slipped up with their wording. Being uneducated about firearms laws is probably where this "licensed" deal came from.

Like I said before, from everything I've read, they follow state law. If you don't need a license in that state you shouldn't need one in Wal-mart. If they ask you for your license when you are there, show 'em your drivers license.;)

But in my case (I live in Virginia) I am 'licensed" by the state to OC. Yep - a "license" is something that the state grants you permission to do, and Virginia by default grants me permission to OC by not passing any law to regulate OC as long as I'm old enough to posses a handgun.

OK, it's weasel-wording the issue. So what? If some big box corporation wants to extend their permission to me as long as I'm "licensed" by my state, then I'm going to find a way to show them I am in fact "licensed". Sure beats arguing about the wording and giving them an opportunity to think about it and change their policy. Don't fiddle what aint broke works most of the time.

stay safe.
