here is the reply

HERE IS THE REPLY I GOT FROM A WALMART REP. SO I AM GOING TO TAKE THIS AS A BEWARE WHILE IM IN THE STORE.

"Thank you for your message. Dear Robert, Thank you for your correspondence regarding your shopping experience at Walmart. There is no policy against customers carrying their handgun in our stores as long as he/she is legally permitted by their state to carry the handgun. As a private property owner, Walmart has the authority to ask customers to remove their handgun or leave the store on a case-by-case basis if customers or Walmart associates express concerns about the handgun. Thank you for allowing Walmart to continue saving you money, so you can live better. Sincerely,Walmart Customer Care "

REMEMBER READ THE FINE LINE.
EVEN IF AN ASSOCIATE HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE GUN,
IM TAKING IT AS YOU HAVE TO LEAVE OR CONCEAL IT. WHAT DO YOU THINK.

The police will make you leave the property if they(wal-mart) ask them to do so. I would just leave before it became an issue and do what the others are advising and talk to higher management. Personally I avoid the police at all costs...so that's my .2

This sceneiro did not include management asking you to leave, he avoided confrontation by having the police ask you to leave without any contact with any store employees.

thank you everyone for your advice and i have taken it. i called the manager today at the yakima walmart he was out but when i talked to the next manager in line named brian he said those managers were new and he would inform them of policy he said the only policy they have is if you buy ammo and carrying a firearm they would walk me to the door with it and im fine with that. also he said he would talk to the managers about the policy because he said he felt they needed to get a little more training on this since they were new managers. and he said he would fix it.
im still going to get a copy of corporate policy though at least for myself and peace of mind. thank you everyone. for your input.

Did you ask for a copy of the policy stating that if you bought ammo, and had a reciept for it that says you have to be escorted out, and can not continue to shop? If they sell a kitchen knife set, do they walk patrons out immediatly?

Turned out he was a gun guy, appreciated my 'effort', but cautioned me that not all officers are aware of all the laws, or are as nice, and that I should be aware of my audience..... Completely casual, non-threatening...

That is one response that has always bothered me. Authorities should not caution someone on a legal and constitutional right. I would be concerned if they cautioned me against attending a political support rally, or cautioned me against spending my hard earned money on a motorcycle. So why is it acceptable that they caution us against where we open carry when it is explicitely legal in this state to carry in that manner. Maybe its just me, but why not save the cautioning for when a citizen is actually wrong and they want to help them.

Here's the policy, and it's no wonder why none of the associates know it. It's only applicable to Asset Protection, as it's a part of the manual.

"Some state laws permit the carrying of open or concealed firearms. Associates should not immediately summon local law enforcement. The customer may be carrying a weapon pursuant to local state laws; however, if this customer completes the four elements of an unlawful taking and also possesses a weapon, associates should document the incident and then contact local enforcement. Such a suspect should not be approached by any associate."

This is Section 100 of AP 09 - Supplemental investigation and detention guide. Page 25

I and some others have never had a problem at Tulalip Wal-mart. I think JBone or someone else in that area have already discussed OC with Tulalip Chief. I find sometimes people who claim one group hate them are under preconcieved ideas that then lead them to behave in away to reinforce their own misconceptions.

I speak from experience brother. I don't OC there because I know what goes down there. My moms works there and I am telling you....I have had issues. Nothing about "group hate", or any misconceptions. I don't care to and will not go into further details about my experiences there. If you wanna OC there, do it. I never told anyone NOT to do it. I just stated my reason for not. As far as the "they hate whitey", that's just me being a smart ass , but I guess that went over your head.

Yea it did go over my head glad you cleared it up, sometimes sarcasm just don't translate well over the forum.
Sorry your experience was bad, but I know what you mean theres places I won't go but my freinds will (not dealing with OC) because some staff/people and I have had umm....to put it nicely personality conflicts.

No worries. It can be difficult at times to tell the tone of ones voice through text. I really sound like an ass sometimes when I'm not and often will think someone is joking when they are serious. Some people it is very hard to tell if they are being sarcastic or not, so for the record I am pretty mellow and never really have issues with people unless they are offensive to my wife.
