How Northam plans to strip legal gun owners of their firearms wasn’t exactly discussed in detail. In fact, expressing details wasn’t exactly high on the priority list, which can tell you a lot of things already. Whatever is going to happen, Virginia’s Democrats don’t want the people prepared for it.

What’s more, Northam, like every other Democrat, is using nebulous language about what guns he plans on taking. There is no such thing as an “assault weapon,” at least as far as precise models of firearms go. He could take the language and run with it to mean any gun that looks remotely scary.
Most importantly, it’s unclear how he’s going to be able to pass legislation that would allow for the confiscation of firearms from legal gun owners, much less enact a red flag law. The Constitutional problems he’d run into would prevent quite a few of the laws he’d like to pass, and even if he did manage to pass bans and confiscation laws, he’d be fighting legal battles in the Supreme Court for a long time.

Door to door is not likely without knowing where the 3 million semiautos in this state are. It will be turn them in or go to prison if you are caught with it.

The $64 question...if the first of several lawful gun owners relinquish their arms when the cops come calling, then LE will be emboldened to continue their raids and any who resist will be eliminated and vilified for resisting. Only if cops believe that every lawful gun owner will resist with that force necessary, under the law, to protect themselves from unconstitutional infringements by the state will LE then see that they uphold their underlying oath to protect the citizenry...for their own personal safety.

The Supreme Court in Caetano v. Massachusetts, 577 U. S. ____ (2016) unanimously held that “the Second Amendment extends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding,” and that the “Second Amendment right is fully applicable to the States.”

So, the state has a high hurdle to overcome. Meaning AR-15s and AK-47s fall within the realm of Caetano. The burden on the state to prove they don't.

At least the line that the democrats don't want to take our guns away has finally been shown to be the lie we all knew it was all along

Maybe so, but in March of 2017 the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Kolbe v. Hogan upheld Maryland’s Assault Weapons Ban with a 9 – 5 vote, which basically claims that these types of firearms are too dangerous for the general public to own. SCOTUS declined to hear an appeal. They are out of their minds if they think anyone is giving up any of our firearms. I was just talking to my parents the other day about red flag laws. If that ever comes into play and they come to try and steal my firearms no one will be able to say i didn't put up a fight! I also told my parents if it came down to it, to make sure that they let the whole world know what our government is doing to our people!

If it comes down to confiscation there is the possibility of moving to another State, or to one of the 2A Sanctuary Counties.

What really concerns me is this bad idea of allowing localities to enact their own "sensible gun control," then we'll have cities like Richmond banning "assault weapons," and all sorts of other restrictions.

When I was a small lad my uncle, who was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force at the time, taught me the rules of war. First rule, there are no rules. And you beat your enemies to within an inch of their life. If they don’t scream “Uncle” at that point, then all bets are off.

VA is the shining example of what happens when people don't vote. You can't tell me that rural VA is so liberal that they voted FOR this Democrat takeover. No way in hell. This is the challenge conservatives and gun owners face is motivating people to get off their duffs and vote. For people to let 3 or 4 counties control the whole state should open their eyes but alas a little too late when the local police come a'calling. If people can't be motivated to vote for their own interests then what is it that WILL be the motivation? Too little too late.

What is needed are state electoral colleges so that the overpopulated areas don't control the entire state through popular vote mandates. Why should Fairfax County have any more say in how the state is run than Suffolk, Culpepper, Rockingham, Franklin, or Scott counties? Because they have a higher population? The high density would give them more electoral representatives but not so many that a couple of much smaller counties with fewer representatives could counteract the vote. Let it work the same way as the federal Electoral College.

No VA is the shining example of best government Bloomberg's $$$$$ can buy!

Same mentality occurred in WA state where the Western side of the mountains $$$$$ has corrupted the whole state ~ different as night and day on the eastern side of the state...

Sorry taurusfan, et al., the shock & awe gun blogs totally misrepresented the bill's intent ~ alas, after reading the proposed changes TO EXISTING statutes, show the main thrust of the bill concerns a mag limit to 10 rounds, quote:
