Why ought they? This idea must be a result of you disagreeing with yourself one day and then forgetting that you disagreed.

I realize that this is your honest opinion, but it is hard to see it as reasonable. My personal opinion is that a tax rate based on a % is unreasonable. We pay taxes and expect to receive something for that money. If I were to pay a higher dollar amount than someone else then it would be reasonable for me to think that I should expect more for my money. However, it would be unreasonable to think that (constitutional) government services should be available unequally. Because of this, the only reasonable tax is a flat tax. I don't mean a flat percentage. I mean a fixed amount. Everyone pays $1000.00/yr(or whatever dollar amount is passed by law). Any other "tax" is unreasonable.

What is your "reasonable" argument for expecting certain people to pay more than you for the same services?

I'm sorry about the confusion, I should have worded it different: If you make a million dollars or more per year, you ought to have the living piss taxed out of you.

I hate buying things. Most of the things I get are from Craigslist "Free" section. There are a lot of good things that people throw away. It's actually quite sad what people throw away.
