An excellent question. In that case I would likely try and keep the conversation steered towards the safety aspect, keeping it properly secured, don't clean it while it's loaded(it would certainly make a mess if I went off during cleaning), that sort of thing.

I would also remind her never to judge a person based on the size of their weapon, as proper handling is far more important.
