Events or discussions regarding laws with some connection to crime, danger to citizens, are frequently permitted on an individual bases. I know the tie in is not exceptionally strong, but see a connect, especially considering that NY is Bloomie's playground and he has said much the same thing about guns = keep Va.guns out of NY.
