I neither expect to nor want to kill, injure, harm or hurt anyone, but I will not hesitate to do what is necessary to stop another from doing those to me or mine - given the circumstances and choices available to me.

Think before the fact and be prepared - for when the call is made, there will be precious little time to think.

Very well stated.

Have you ever noticed that while the rest of us try to say it, Grapeshot always posts what we meant to say?

Grape should market a line of cards geared towards:

What pithy statements the Selfdense minded would/should say.

Oh, That!

I was there for that. I thought that was minor. I'm always amazed at what people are wearing when they go to court. Remember what some of the other people were wearing? I was amazed that none of them were held in contempt!!!

I think Nightmare was picked on!!!

Mike,
When I was Judge Zepkin's bailiff, someone wearing inappropriate attire would have been tossed out as soon as he or she entered the courtroom, BEFORE the Judge entered.

Yes, I have noticed this from a number of our long-standing colleagues on this site. The eloquence of the spoken and written word can move mountains. Those so gifted bear our scrutiny to both learn from and watch.

In our young friend's defense -
* he had attended at least one previous act of the drama and noted the lack of formality in the dress code being allowed/permitted by the deputies before folks got into the courtroom

* he was stopped by a deputy before he was even allowed through the metal detector, did not make a public scene, and remedied the situation

* - he has provided amusement ever since while remaining cheerful (well, as cheerfull as he could be)

stay safe.

I have found that carrying a firearm has a calming effect on me........just knowing that I am seconds away from becoming the Angel of Death diminishes the chances of said metamorphosis. Lucky for you guys, I am always carrying! Otherwise, you might see the "real me"!

Texas has it right

We in Virginia need more legal opportunities to use our firearms...as in Texas.

"Texas Penal Code - Section 9.42. Deadly Force To Protect Property

9.42. DEADLY FORCE TO PROTECT PROPERTY. A person is
justified in using deadly force against another to protect land or
tangible, movable property:
(1) if he would be justified in using force against the
other under Section 9.41; and
(2) when and to the degree he reasonably believes the
deadly force is immediately necessary:
(A) to prevent the other's imminent commission of
arson, burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, theft during the
nighttime, or criminal mischief during the nighttime; or
(B) to prevent the other who is fleeing
immediately after committing burglary, robbery, aggravated
robbery, or theft during the nighttime from escaping with the
property; and
(3) he reasonably believes that:
(A) the land or property cannot be protected or
recovered by any other means; or
(B) the use of force other than deadly force to
protect or recover the land or property would expose the actor or
another to a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury."

Without a doubt, strongly worded.

Don't see Virginia embracing the use of deadly force to protect property though.

Indeed and to the contrary, I believe this law supports the stereotypical view by liberals that conservatives are Evil.
