OK so I head on over to the Hampton walmart today on Mercury blvd. to try and find some 9mm ammo at reasonable prices. I walk in, rollin with my Keltec P11 in my hip holster. A few stares from the locals, nothing of note, yet.
I head onback to the Sport's section, notice plenty of 9mm ammo and ask for 2 boxes of 50. This is where it gets crazy, the obese black man and his equally obese white female co-worker start to ask each other "so you gonna tell him"? Eventually the guy walks over to me and says "we can't sell you any ammunition if you got a weapon ". My brain just screams "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is wrong with you"? But my mouth says, "why not"? He tells me it's the law, with a very authoritative tone.
I quickly tell him that is not the law, at which point he says it is. I said that is not state law, andI wish to see a manager. The woman picks up the phone and says that the mnager is not answering, and whenI reiterate that I know what the law is and I want to see a manager, the male walks off to go get the manager.
While he is gone the woman quickly says that she does not agree with the "policy" and does not know when they started using it. I tell her that Wal-mart corporate policy is to generally mimic state law, then the manager and the guy come back.
The manager is an attractive young blound, named Olga, with a VERY heavy European accent,(man ifI wasn't married), she ask me ,"What is the problem"? I tell her what the employee has told me and she says, "OK" I tell her that is not the law, and certainly not Walmart corporate policy, and that I have been shopping at walmart for many years and have NEVER heard of this policy, thenI ask her when Walmart began using this policy? She got this look on her face like "damn this dude means business". Then she justchanges the "law" right there in front of me , likesome kind of wizard or somethingand tells me that she must escort meout the store, to my car , after I buy the ammunition. I agree and cough up the 25 bucks for 100 rounds.
On our way out the store I inform her that it is really hard for me to spend my 200 dollars in grocery money at the store with her escorting me out, and that I do not like being treated like a criminal. She insist that she is not treating melike a criminal. Before I tell her thatI will be contacting the district manager I notice she is walking really fast, too fast for me , so I slooow it down, way down, she is obviously uncomfortable, lol,.
I then ask her where she is from , she tells me she just transfered from Colorado, not really the question I was asking but, whatever. I then told her that anybody age 18 and older in Va. can open carry, and that If I wanted to walk in the store with a shotgun slung across my back, I would not be breaking the law. She then proceeds to tell me that she disagrees with Americans being able to own guns and carry them as well!!!!!! WTF!!!!!
So as we reach the outside of the store,I tell her that shedoes not know me, and by walking out of the strore with someone she KNOWS is armed is not what her job is and could be dangerous if I truley were a criminal, she says she does not care, and we continue to my car.
So we walk up to the back of my vehicle, not that she would know anyway, andI stop walking and she hands me my ammo and begins to walk away. I say "Hey Olga you don't even know if this is my car"! She then tells me she is not going to argue with me and keeps walking back to the store. I am just blown away at the disreguard this immigrant has for our laws but her own personal safety as well!
I then go to the York county Walmart and finish my grocery shopping.
