We couldn't care less if Code Pink or the Brady Bunch shows up. We could set up a metal detector and if you don't beep loudly, you don't get to eat!

I am impressed that our VCDL President uses CORRECTLY the cliche above. So many otherwise intelligent people in leadership roles speak without thinking what the words they say actually mean. I tend to judge people (especially talk show hosts and politicians) on things like this, and decide accordingly if I should follow them or not. Good job Philip! See you at the event.

Winston Churchhill reportedly said "Poor gramma is something up with which I will not put!"

See everybody at the picnic. Review the list for things nobody has spoken for and bring something if you'd like.

Looking Good

looks like things are coming along pretty well. If there is still anybody intrested in bringing something just sign up. It won't be a problem if more than one person brings the same thing, so just jump right in and pick something. Oh, I had planned to mention that it is not mandatory to bring something in order to attend.

This is a low pressure, have fun, laid back kind of event. The main thing is to have fun/fellowship with other freedom loving guys and gals. I'm looking forward to hanging out with all my VCDL friends and their friends.

Ice

someone is bringing coolers with ice and we'll put the cans and bottles of water/soda in them, but we'll also need some CLEAN ice to put in drinks. If somebody could bring a cooler of ice just for putting IN drinks that would be great.

thanks in advance to everyone who is helping out

Chairs

the past couple years people brought their own lawn chairs along. Turns out that that was a good idea. The shelter has tables with benches but there wasn't enough seating so if you want to bring your own chair that might not be a bad idea

Looks like we need at least one person to bring a 96 inch electric fan to stand in front of to cool off. Can someone with a truck stop by Northern Tools or United Rentals and pick one up? It might be over 80 degrees today . . . . . .

Running Late

I'm running late today. My back is REALLY bugging me, so I'm a bit slow today. Enlisting the assistance of my offspring so we should be on the road shortly...

Thanks to Ron for setting everything up; it was a fun picnic. And thanks for Phillip for coming and speaking to us.

I'm glad I was able to attend this year; I've had schedule conflicts in the past. My GPS took me right past the picnic site and directed me to the detention facility at the back end of River Farm Road. I saw some people sitting at picnic tables, but it was in a locked fenced enclosure and nobody had guns on. Then I saw a sign "do not talk to the inmates," sort of like at a zoo. I know some VCDL members can be real animals, but something told me I was in the wrong place! I retraced my steps and easily found the VCDL shelter. I look forward to next year.
