Greetings to the residents of Hawaii. I am on vacation with the wife here in Honolulu for our 2nd wedding anniversary. When we leave next week it will have been the longest I have went without carrying my firearm in well over a decade.
I am a resident of Michigan and have a CPL but since Hawaii does not honor MI CPLs and to the best of my understanding of your laws OC is illegal here I left my firearm back in Detroit.
My question is does anyone carry in this state besides LEOs? Having had several conversations with people here, they all have the "Deer in the headlights" look when I tell them I carry a firearm back home on a daily basis. "Really?", "Why?" and "No way?" have been a common response.
I guess I am guilty to a certain extent of taking for granted the rights we have back home (As confusing as our laws are, we still can OC without a CPL).
I believe MI recognizes a Hawaii carry permit (Does anyone actually have one of these?) The mere fact I am not carrying as I usually do has left me feeling naked. Not familiar with the political affairs here, is there any hope of these Draconian laws changing?
