Alexander said officials are still investigating the timeline of the events, but what’s known is a neighborhood resident called emergency 911 to report a burglary in progress, giving a description of the targeted home. Officers went to the back of what they thought was the correct home and found a rear door unlocked.


“That in and of itself would probably suggest to anyone that it is possible that there could be intruders inside, but it turned out not to be the case,” Alexander said, WXIA reported. “Somewhere at the rear of that home, some things happened that have yet to be determined.”

They had no PC to enter the house ... they know this. My sympathy is for the dog and homeowner.

Recent updates say that homeowner did have a gun and shot the cop. Cops also said they found an unlocked door which was suspicious and gave them PC to enter... Since when is having my door unlocked PC to enter? Broken window/door jam... I'll give you that one.

Sounds like the dog barked or growled, they shot dog, home owner shot cop, cops shot home owner. There is no cure for stupid, police, and public will be safer when individual stupid cops are removed before incidents happen.

Nope, I was just guessing. I guess it is also possible they shot home owner when they shot dog.

The GBI's statement provided additional details: "Upon entry to the residence, the officers encountered a dog. Two officers fired their weapons striking and killing the animal in the kitchen. A male in the home, later determined to be the homeowner, exited a room off the kitchen and was also shot by the responding officers."


The homeowner, who suffered a leg wound, was treated and released at Atlanta Medical Center. The officer underwent surgery at Grady Memorial Hospital and is now in serious but stable condition, the GBI said.

and obviously if the dog was barking at their intrusion, why wasn't it barking BEFORE their intrusion if a burglar actually WAS in the house? theres a question to think about.
