Confronted by random guy last night

So my girlfriend and I ran a few errands after work. Went to Marshalls, Dicks (where my iphone 6 cracked in back pocket), then kroger, walmart, petco and lastly whole foods (yeah yeah, i don't want to hear it, my girlfriend is on some health kick, i could care less either way. steaks and seafood are better there for sure). I can say that i OC in this whole foods 1x per week probably and have received many compliments and questions on my glock. (custom cutouts, gold slide, timberwolf lower and KKM barrel)

While she was looking at cheese, some guy comes up to me and says something like "why are you carrying a gun in here? it's posted no guns at the front door" I responded, No it isn't and he counters back, yes it is. I said well, i came in that door right there and there isn't a sign... He got frustrated and said, well, it's posted at the other door and you're breaking the law so what are you going to do? I said uhhhh finish my shopping unless I am asked to leave. He shook his head, sighed and stormed off. Anyway, later, the cashier said to me "pretty gun!" When we left, i checked both doors and didn't see a sign anywhere.

Anyway, weird experience. Never had one like that before.

WF here in Dallas is posted - cops don't arrive in store till about 9am, so smart robbers would do well to wake up early to gorge on 'organic worms'.

Last time thru TN did not notice if store was posted in Chattanooga - after islamic murders would think residents would make them 2A compliant

Glad he didn't attempt anything more dramatic.

Does your gf carry? If not, hope you are working on that. Mine (DoubleTap) has startled a less intrusive questioner, when from behind him she said, "I carry too." Boo! - you've just been double teamed. :D

Note to self: If a person is against the too-obvious human right to self-defense, it would be no surprise that they make up their arguments as they go along. That is to say, nothing they say can be trusted.

At 'Some guy comes up to me...' and is confrontational, I say to my SO:

'Sweetie, please call 911 and tell them I'm about to be assaulted by a bully at WF...'

or, maybe: 'Sir, please be on your way, I'm about to put in a call to 911 and have you arrested for (attempted?) assault if you don't leave immediately'

Assault generally doesn't require that physical contact actually occurred. Instead, legal scholars define assault as an intentional attempt or threat to inflict injury upon a person, coupled with an apparent, present ability to cause the harm, which creates a reasonable apprehension of bodily harm or offensive contact in another.

I am not arguing with a confrontational person. I might say 'I don't consent to a conversation with you please move back, or I might put my cart between us and ignore the person and start to get my phone out which has a one-button 911 app, but with 'call now?' after you press it', but I would at least start filming the confrontation before saying anything.

If I were going to OC on a regular basis in a place where there were even occasional challenges, I'd be wearing a lapel cam and be getting audio and video. However where I live nobody bothers you, comes up to you, is offensive (though I still have my recorder on when OCing).

Anyway, I'm not getting into a discussion and wasting my time or going tit for tat. I don't immediately play the 'unfriendly card', just that I am prepared and get some barrier or distance and look around, etc., I'd suppose. I've never been confronted, though someone once said something about my needing some hair treatment (??), - and a raft of insults in Tractor Supply.

Ironically enough, he happened to look like he had just been drug down a dirt road by a bunch of angry Tasmanian devils.

Well that was a bit stupid. You don't confront an armed guy unless you have a death wish. That random guy could have confronted the wrong person and be dead right now. He's lucky he tried it on a person with brains.
