Sometimes, you just gotta love living in WV. Went w/ a friend to a Nailers game last week and afterward, she wanted to stop in Generations for a beer. I'm a teetotaler, and replied, "Sure, but I want to get a Red Bull 1st." So I stopped at a convenience store and, by the time we were at Generations, it was half gone. While walking in the guy working the door stopped us, motioned toward my can and said, "You can't bring that in here."

"The Red Bull?" I replied.

"Yeah, finish it up before coming in."

Which I did. He didn't care about my OC 9mm. Just the energy drink. Sat at the bar and after a couple of hours, there was a guy w/ a couple of buddies getting kicked out b/c they didn't have enough $ to pay their tab. When they made it out in the parking lot, a fight ensued that lasted several minutes. The cops came, and one of them was inside the bar for a while. I know he saw me b/c I went to the john and walked right by everyone discussing the fight. No one batted an eyelash.

So WV, where you can't take an energy drink into a bar, but OC? Welcome, come on in.

Well, in Kentucky when you walk into the state house you have go through a the metal detector. Open carry is perfectly legal, but don't bring in that pocket knife.

And as you well know, across the river in Cincinnati you can go openly armed on the big public plaza, Fountain Square. (In spite of some confusing signage on the subject.) But if you go there for a rally/protest, don't put your cardboard sign on a 1"x1" furring strip. The city will have the police cite or arrest you for having such a "weapon" on the Square. Oddly though part of the space is used for a temporary ice rink this time of year, and hockey players wielding much bigger than 1"x1" sticks are welcomed for the games occasionally held there.
