I live in new jersey here is what my FID card says

State of NJ Firearms purchaser IDENTIFICATION CARD

this is to certify that

john doe residing at number#20 Street# main st.

City Anytown State NJ

is hereby granted permission to purchase rifles and shotguns persuant to provisions of N.J.S.2c:58-3 with amendments and supplements

This card only allows me to purchase long guns it is not a permit to carry and cannot be used as a permit to cary. In NJ I can only be in possetion at hiome, the range, and hunting grounds. or traveling between one place i may leagaly have a gun to another place I can have a gun, but I cannot make any stops along the way.

I can list two reasons why I'll always avoid traveling into New Jersey.

1). Very restrictive gun laws.

2). Crazy ex wife lives there.
How did you get them to drop the DV charges so you weren't banned for life?
NJ judge + Ex = gun banned :cuss:

I wouldn't like it, but if I need a transplant I hear they have them for sale. :what:

The best idea for applying for a permit... is leave NJ and everything it stands for as soon as your senses will adjust to the fact that NJ is a socialist cesspool. Upon escaping to saner residence... obtain a CCW/CWP someplace where freedom to do so is unhampred by local tyranny.

I second Sonora Rebels suggestion. Get out of there before that "exit tax" goes into effect.

:quirkyHey!, isn't that kind of like.....ransom?

They'd have no idea what to do. They probably seldom, if ever, even encounter the few legit non-LEO NJ permits out there. They probably don't even know what one looks like.

I'd bet if a national reciprocity bill passes, NJ would be the first to have their officials violate it. Just look at the number of incidents of FOPA being violated, most, if not all, seem to be at the hands of the NY/NJ Port Authority.

I wonder how much the taxes would have to go up because of judgements awarded to people befor the the citizens start to raise hellwhen the national right to carry act passes ?

My God!! "hereby GRANTED permission" to exercise his civil rights, as protected by the 2nd amendment to the US Constitution. What an absolute obscenity. Don't the lords and masters of the Garden State have any idea how idiotic their laws sound?? (That's a rhetorical question. Don't bother replying)

God, I hope someday there will be a mass demonstration against the repressions of the ruling class there.

Well, incorporation should get the ball rolling for that, as well as many other areas. Istill feel sorry for the victims ofthese crazy, unconstitutional laws.

Without looking up all the stuff, and being NJ it would be hard to figure out, can someone from NJ explain to me what the process is in NJ to get a CC permit. I know you have to produce a valid reason, BS, but the actual process. Who do you start with and where does the paperwork go from there? Who is the deciding factor if you get one or not? I am from there, but it has been years since I actually lived there, thankfully. Still have family there, poor soles. Next time I am home visiting I am thinking about filing an application out with whomever.

Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

This will give some starter info:

Not likely to be successful though, but good luck anyway.

How to get a NJ permit to carry:

1. Realize it's almost impossible.

2. Research the NJ gun laws.

2. Go back and edit #1 above to remove the word almost.

3. Decide not to bother trying to get the permit.

4. Work out ways to do what you have to do without physically stepping foot in NJ.

LOL, I was expecting an answer like that. I had found that website already but found others stating something about the state supreme court having to do something with the application. The link sent said the issuing authority was the local police chief. So I go to the local police office, are they the ones who say yes or no or does it go up further after them? That is where I had the question, I may have a "in" if it is just the police dept, if it is higher then I will go with your advice and forget it all. Thanks again.

One of you made a point about the FID only permits to purchase, not carry in regards to a long gun. But the law itself, not the FID, allows you to carry a long gun with an FID.

Correct me if I am wrong here.

Though I'm no longer an NJ resident I still have my FID card issued only a few years ago and it does NOT have the word "carry" anywhere on it.

Worth a shot if you've got deep pockets and a good pro2A attorney, let us know how it works ;) haha

That is the problem with NJ law and the idiots who run the place and enforce them. If the card says you can, I assume it does in on one, then you should and can do it. The response is "hope you have deep pockets" and I agree with that statement.

The issue is that if the card says it and you do it, you face the extreme of getting locked up or at a minimum a empty piggy bank.

Get out while you can, if everyone was to eventually get outta there, what money would they make? Speeding tickets for those who have no choice but to pass thru and the TOLLS they have to pay. I know, it's unrealistic, but talk about teaching that state a lesson. If only........
