I noticed today as i took my child to the zoo for teh first time that there is a sign on their entrance banning concealed carry in accordance with Louisville Metro Ordinance 129,2004. What is this? I thought KY was a preemptive law state...

You have to go thru a portion of a building to get inside, don't you?

Its been a long time since I took my kids there, but that is what I recall. I remember seeing the sign on the way out! Somehow i missed it on the way in.:D


Besides, they only mention concealed carry on the sign, right? I'm sure they wouldn't say a word about open carry! (sarcasm off)

Louisville can only deny access or request that you leave. There is no criminal liability. In other words, they see your gun, they can ask you to leave. You refuse to leave, you go to jail for criminal trespass.

Section 41.99: Violation of this chapter may result in denial of entry into a restricted building or restricted portion of a building, or an order to leave such building or portion of a building. If an employee of the Metro Government carries a concealed firearm or other deadly weapon into or on any restricted building or restricted portion of a building, disciplinary measures, up to and including dismissal from employment, may be imposed.
