To continue with the dog theme.
It happened here in Cincinnati.
A 74 year old was in a dog park when another dog attacked his dog.

It seems the result depends on how the judge looks the situation.

Samkent, the defense attorney in that case used to be the county prosecutor, so he definitely knows his way around a courtroom. Plus, that judge, who I've met a few times, seems like a very squared away guy. It's a shame that the defendant had to shoot the other dog, but neither physically trying to pull the dogs apart nor using pepper spray had any effect.

It would be interesting to know how "except a dog or cat" made it into that statute.
