supplemental and additional to existing rights to bear arms now guaranteed by law and decisions of

supersede any law, ordinance, or regulation in conflict herewith.

(5) POSSESSION IN PRIVATE CONVEYANCE. - Notwithstanding subsection (2), it is lawful and is
not a violation of ss. 790.01 for a person 18 years of age or older to possess a concealed firearm or
other weapon for self-defense or other lawful purpose within the interior of a private conveyance,
without a license, if the firearm or other weapon is securely encased or is otherwise not readily
accessible for immediate use. Nothing herein contained prohibits the carrying of a legal firearm
other than a handgun anywhere in a private conveyance when such firearm is being carried for a
lawful use...

I wonder how this applies to Motorcycles and non-handguns?

At first blush, it would seem that long-gun carry (yes, I'm aware of the forum rule, thanks, bye) on a bike is not prohibited. It probably isn't real useful since I wouldn't be able to step off the bike... But plenty of people joyride on their bikes with no destination except to return home...

Ride for OC anyone?

My analysis is that my Motorcycle is a private conveyance. "In" and "on" are generally interchangeable regarding laws of this nature. So...

My point is agitating for Handgun OC by doing something frowned upon... Even a tit for tat...

Forum Rule Censor Fiends, if you still haven't added it up... This is an idea to pursue Handgun Carry through Long Gun Carry, it's about a potential path to Handgun OC, not a discussion about Long Gun Carry. Such mention is merely an unavoidable and integral part of the matter.

Any type of long gun OC will likely scare the statists in Tally and hurt general handgun OC. I still say an empty holster protest in the fertility-occultic capitol building could be effective. Maybe if a few hundred people showed up?

In or On a conveyance could also include a horse, no? Soo... personally I think folks look silly riding horseback WITHOUT a revolver, at least...(perhaps too many Lone Ranger episodes as a kid?).

As to empty holsters- I do it almost daily, everywhere- intentionally. I OC 24/7 round the house and grounds, but when I go someplace (store/office/etc.) I take the OC pistol off when I get where Im going, secure it in the vehicle, but keep the OC holster on, and CC my BUG.

This ,of course, leads to all the expected wise cracks, like "err.. I think you forgot something" to the hoped-for "you have a holster, but why no pistol for it?"
And BINGO- I say " Im SO glad you asked. Are you aware of how hard your State representative and Governor have shafted you, again, this year?....."

Very cool. I leave the belt holster on when I have to leave the gun in the car or bike and just have the BUG on me.

It's not so bad with a paddle type holster as those can be pulled easily, but the belt holsters just stay on!

Here, here. Paddle Holsters for the win. I almost never take my gun out, just remove the whole thing. Less handling that way.

I just flick my shirt over it when I leave home. Tuck my shirt between it and my body when I'm at home. Keeps the skin off the steel, prevents the rust.... I think this may be my main reason for wanting OC, I hate rusting my guns.

Now that I think about it, if I had a half-way decent scabbard for my Winchester Model 94 lever action, I do believe it would carry nicely on the bike.

Now I'll have to start thinking about the aesthetics of a scabbard carried just forward of the saddle bag.

You all should NEVER carry an empty holster!!! That is just asking for trouble. When I go to places that don't allow me to carry, I usually put a banana in it.... That way in a SHTF situation I would at least have a source of potassium.

Still, a bad one that confused people enough to ask why it isn't where it belongs... This is a Florida-specific situation, referencing Florida Law, in regards to Open Carry, and how something not sanctioned directly by the rules might help promote something that is.... In States where we cannot Open Cary properly, stifling all peripheral subject matter, especially discussions intended to lead to, support, or promote Open Carry in the only methods available, is a self-defeating premise. By this logic, we cannot discuss anything in Red States and the entire sub-forum must be deleted...
