Concealed carry is closer everyday, except in numerous gun free zones. Private business owners have a protected right to refuse our concealed weapons into their establishments. Many organizations have printed informational cards to present to such business owners.

I have seen dozens of designs, and none of which impressed me much. The message is solid, but presentation is lackluster. I feel many of these are discarded without a thought, I want to change this.

I have enlisted the help of a graphic artist to design a more professional design to fit this purpose. While many cards will be tossed regardless, I hope a more professional design may get a second look and deliver the message with seriousness.

I am looking to gauge any interest in these cards, and am looking to order another batch. My first two batches were sold to IllinoisCarry.com members, and am looking to get as many into the hands of future Illinois CCW holders as possible.

Unfortunately, graphic design is not free, nor is professionally printing, double sided, full color, full UV business cards. I plan to make the investment for personal use, but if enough support surfaces I will order a higher quantity of cards to distribute (at a small fee).

If the community speaks up, we can make a statement to misinformed private business here in Illinois.

Text on cards is as follows:
Front: I saw your sign, and had to leave your business. Turn over to learn why you should remove your sign.

Back: Your sign turns away law abiding citizens. Your sign is bad for your business. Your sign does NOT deter criminals. State law requires that: I am NOT a felon, I am fingerprinted and background checked, I am certified in firearm use, and applicable laws. How much do you know about your OTHER customers? IllinoisCarry.com

If you are interested in obtaining some cards PM me. Final cost will be determined by the quantity of cards that are ordered. My last order had a cost of:

100 - $18
250 - $30
500 - $48

These prices include shipping within the US. Actual prices will not exceed those mentioned above. Cards are expected in by the end of next week. Message me if interested!

If I might suggest making the change I underlined. "It's bad for your business" is the BEST way to get a businessman's attention and should be the first thing said. The rest explains why.

I might even consider putting it on the front as follows:

Text on cards is as follows:
Front: Your sign is bad for your business. Turn over to learn why you should remove your sign.

Back: I saw your sign, and had to leave your business. Your sign is turning away law abiding citizens, but it WON'T deter criminals.
[paragraph break here]
State law requires that: I am NOT a felon, I am fingerprinted and background checked, I am certified in firearm use, and applicable laws. How much do you know about your OTHER customers? IllinoisCarry.com

This card would be applicable in other states as well (Modified to reference a different URL).

I suggest that people sue the business owners charging them with a civil rights complaint.

Businesses understand $$$ .... they have to pay lawyers, real people do not.

Cost of such a civil suit to the business if they win? Maybe 10-40K+.

Cost if they lose? $10-??

Or at least threaten to sue ...

Handing out little cards? Useless IMO. They already know that they may lose some business. Your card does not inform them of how much ..so why would they care. They'll assume that they will lose more business from carriers visiting and buying v. keeping them out.

No it doesn't. You just have to wait 30 days longer.

Ah, I missed that nuance. Thanks for the correction. (I don't remember posting that (it was quite some time ago) and it's possible I was working off a generic formula. It''s a certainty that I was critiquing someone else's (cjurczak's) design and missed this factual error.)

Actually, reading my reply again, it might have come off as rather rude, sorry about that.

I like the "spirit" of the idea though. Although I'm afraid the poster above us might have it right, they probably don't really care unless it makes a BIG impact (at the national level).

BTW I would have done fingerprints if it was free, they wanted crazy money to have them done electronically! I'll just wait!

I too like the spirit of the newly-able-to-carry Illinois resident. he can post back if his actions lead to positive results..I would be glad to be surprised.

As a former Illinois resident who carried long ago with others of the same mindset, the baby steps that the court forced down their throat may lead to more court cases that expand and recognize the RKBA even more.

But prior to the court opinion and law(s) produced of recent history there were plenty of people who carried and plenty of DA's who said that they would not prosecute...and, for the most part, those DA's kept their word.
