My goal was not to rehash the incident here, so please go to the thread in the Alabama section. Again, I have bumped the thread and added a link to the audio.

I so don't want to talk about this in this thread anymore that I won't even respond to further demands in this thread for links. It's in the Alabama section, right on top, go there--as others have found so easy to do. Have a nice day.

A question if you don't mind.

I find it very strange, and somewhat disheartening, that a open carriers in the deep South are seeing this sort of behavior in their cities. Is this common? Are you experiencing a flood of people from other parts of the country where firearms are not viewed in a favorable light?

I ask this because one of the things the South is known for is its gun-friendly history and culture. I find it curious that folks in your state are showing anti colors. It's just hard for me to imagine a native of Alabama being anti-gun and afraid of openly carried firearms.

Thanks.

Montgomery is not the South. It bears more similarity to some northern cities than southern. It has flipped strongly Democrat, has high taxes (10% sales tax on everything, including food), uses municipal funds to build facilities for privileged private enterprises, is passing increasingly oppressive rules, etc. Rural areas of Alabama and more conservative areas, such as Huntsville, seem, with a few exceptions, to be friendlier to our rights. Again, I don't want to discuss the incident in this thread, but you will notice that the combination of this encounter and my second changed how MPD dealt with open carry, resulting in a third encounter that went exactly as they all should have.

Now that I have contributed to creating an OC-friendly environment in a leftist stronghold, I have moved and am back at square one. :banghead:

About a month ago I walked into a Target to meet some other OCers at the Starbucks within. As I entered I passed a security guard who wanted to "ask me something". As I walked off, I turned and said sure. He asked if I was a police officer, and I said "Nope" and continued on my way. He followed me into the Starbucks telling me that Target didn't allow guns and that I needed to leave. As I was paying for my drink, I finally turned to acknowledge him again saying that Target's policy is to follow state law, and state law allows open carry. As he sputtered I went to sit down with the others and we waited for whatever was going to happen, to happen.

About an hour later (probably more like 15 minutes, but that's not how it felt) a manager walked up to us and apologized to me for the security guard's actions and statements. She said that we were welcome in her store any time.
