It appears you are just using someone else's opinion to justify your crusade, and like many that spout off you have no real experience.
How is it that these guns had to be sent back.. an opinion? Lots of them....I think the reason you spout off at the mouth is because you are behind your computor.:cuss:
Most of the respones weren't from tuarus saying , "operator error", limp wrist. Most of them were machining issues, broke in box,
From Guns and Ammo forum..........
PT-22: Barrel hinge pin broke while firing. Granted it still kept shooting with the barrel all cockeyed, but it shot about 5 feet to the left.
My PT 99 mag release broke
PT-52 "Pocket-size .25ACP semiauto, clone of a Beretta design": Broke firing pins since out of the box, no matter if they were custom made or original replacements. Surrendered it to police for destruction.
The problems I had with my taurus was that it went out of time. When you pulled the trigger it would lock up and it would not fire.It would only fire if you pulled the hammer back and fired as single action. I sent it back to the factory 3 times but the problem was never fixed. It took 5 weeks to get it back each time.It was a 357 revolver I think it was a model 606 or 605. I traded up for a Ruger sp101. which has been flawless
one 22N in stainless that couldn't cycle a magazine to save it's life. after looking at the brass it definatly had a buggerd chamber, and Taurus sent me out a new barrel free of charge
HERE'S ONE AFTER 1000 ROUNDS........I had a pt111 millenium pro. The problem I had was that the captive recoil spring kept coming out of the front of the pistol, rendering pistol useless. I fixed it with a new spring assembly and continued using it thinking it may have been a fluke, the second time it happened I got rid of it. Keep in mind that a couple thousand rounds were fired through it with no other problems than what I said.
A friend at work owns a raging bull, but doesn't fire it enough to wring out most issues. He says he likes it, but practices with those short .45's
I've had one. It was a .17 cal revolver.
Had nine chambers, some of them were so tight that you couldn't get the cartridge into them and some were so loose that the rims barely caught.
I'm not going to say that I'll never buy another Taurus, but I WILL say that I'll never buy another one off the internet "without personally inspecting it first".
Never had a problem with mine.
But I rented a Millennium Pro .45 a few months back and I got one magazine through it before it stopped firing. It was completely dead and I checked everything and couldn't find anything wrong. A smith took it apart and found that the trigger support pin,
evidently plastic, had broken and it was not going to ever fire until that was replaced, I would assume with another plastic part which to me seems a bit redundant "I wouldn't rely on it again". My LGS guys had fun with that saying, "even a chick can break a Taurus!" My LGS keeps their rental guns in good shape, and this had definitely been fired but it was in very good condition so i.e. it hadn't been abused.
I have a 24/7 Pro Compact in 9mm. I have shot ~500rds and have never had a single problem. It is a fun gun to shoot and the ribbed grip is very comfortable.
3 years ago I was qualifying for a security officer position with Pinkerton. They issued new Taurus .38 Special revolvers to their officers. During the qualification sequence 3 out of 7 revolvers developed problems and the officers had to borrow another gun to finish. One had the usual timing issue and locked up completely. The other 2 had the cylinder crane set-screw sheer off so the cylinder and the crane come off into the shooters hands when they tried to do a tactical reload. Our captain said they already had 12 revolvers sent back to the factory for warrany repairs. I offered to bring me own S&W but the captain could not allow that as we were working on a military owned "read government" installation.
I have a 24/7 PRO in .45acp with ~800 rounds through it and no problems.
PT92 slide locked up. Gunsmith finally got it apart and found that the locking block was
"rigged" by the factory. No solid roll pin. Other than that and a rough trigger, not a bad pistol. Sold to my ex-fiancee's sister and bought a Beretta.
More hits than misses...... need more?
