We are now running on a new, and hopefully much-improved, server. In addition we are also on new forum software. Any move entails a lot of technical details and I suspect we will encounter a few issues as the new server goes live. Please be patient with us. It will be worth it! :)
Please help by posting all issues here.
The forum will be down for about an hour this weekend for maintenance. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Situational awareness FIRST and always. Regardless of your carry method or holster, someone just MIGHT come along and konk you on the head and take it away from you. Somehow, that isn't something we hear much about however.
Location, surroundings, people... it all depends. And each person is responsible for their own choices and actions, as well as any consequences. I don't "MUST" do anything to suit anyone else. Your mileage may vary...
Of course it is not 100%. Nothing is. And any sort of "retention" can be overcome if some criminal (or child) wants it badly enough to make it happen. There are no guarantees in this life, and especially not in self defense. But if this retention thing was such an enormous problem, guns would be snatched constantly, somewhere. Since it is hardly a factor, and so seldom happens, I think I'll go with continued practice of all the other parts of safe gun handling, carrying.
And yes, my OC holster has a retention strap. But I'm not worried about it.
there is no retentation whatsoever utilized by the carrier cuz there is no holster! (yes, i know a leather holster, w/o strap, has some innate retention properties, but an uncle mike's style might lack that minimal capability.)
this event was specifically mentioned by a poster during Oct 16 in a thread started by SFC.
