first I would like to open with, I fully support open carry and CC.

but I noticed that Oneida Bingo and Casino is on this list as infringing on our rights.

things you should know about native american gaming facilities (Oneida in particular)

native american tribes are soverign nations in and of themselves. (this makes them their own government independant of the federal government) and as such they are not required to abide fully by federal law. the constitution has no place on tribal land. neither do federal employment laws. (as such they are not infringing upon your rights as you have none being on their land)

also within their casinos and most of their facilities is a fully vested uniformed private security force (armed) and they are there to protect YOU aswell as the employees and the property. and with their numbers they do so very well in most cases without the need for the use of force beyond hand to hand. ( you should not even feel the need to carry there )

being employed there in the security department for 10 years I have been in a number of hands on situations and in those 10 years there has not been so much as one incident where any security officer has had to draw a weapon. it was always taken care of with the visual deterent of the sheer number of officers responding to any situation.

so just to set the record straight.. Oneida can be taken off this list due to the fact that we have no constitutional rights under tribal law on tribal land.

just my .02
Carry on.

Well, if you want to be technical, we have no Constitutional rights in ANY private business. The Constitution only protects us against infringement by the government.

Always think it a pointed reference when the ones with the guns tell those w/o the guns that they do not need them..........hmmm.

The list is not maintained by constitutional authority but by choice. Surely you support people having that ability. Also, taking them off the list would infer by omission that carrying was OK.

I have to agree with Grapeshot 100%

Who do you think you are to even try to tell me when I should feel safe?
This has to be a joke, and a bad one at that.

I carry, the Oneida people do not want me or my money on any of the tribal land.
How clear do you need it spelled out?

The place needs to stay ON the list, as I have little or no rights on the tribal land.
This list is a warning for people that do carry. Oneida has a well earned place on it.

What a bad joke.

ok. see it your way.. I was only trying to inform.. didn't expect you all to get so butt hurt over it. I have been lurking here quite a bit lately reading all the posts and stories and thought you were all a fairly decent group of individuals as a whole. and agree with most everything this forum stands for. but I now see that some of you are nothing more than extremist activists. "that is my opinion based upon your responses not only to my post but others aswell" and I wouldnt be surprised if you are hoarding doomsday prepers as well. which is also your right, and I am not one to judge. but I am begining to see that this forum may not be a place for me to spend much time other than to gather legal information about my rights. I will probably avoid posting or joining in at any functions. some of you strike me what is refered to in law enforcement as EDP. which stands for Emotionally dependant people. who feed off the attention you get by being the center of attention. and also the reason we are looked upon as "gun totin crazy people" you cant carry everywhere. get over it! as much as we have the right to carry they have the right to tell us not on their property.. if your best friend told you you couldn't carry in his/her pressence, would you still call that person your best friend and hang out with them. or would you adopt the same mentality and say fine if I cant carry my gun when I'm arround you I wont be your friend? sorry but carrying a gun is not worth loosing a friend over..

if you had learned how to fight with your hands you wouldnt feel such a "need" to carry a weapon.. I carry by choice. not because I am afraid or feel the "need" and it certainly is not my first line of defense. but my last. and I don't feel the "need " to carry everywhere, and often don't. as I can find a weapon in anything I lay my eyes upon.

and if you don't feel safe leaving your house without a gun on your person perhaps you should seek psychological help. as large and dangerous as this world is, it aint that dangerous. there are places you can feel completely safe without your gun. and if you don't skip back a couple sentances..

peace out.. final post from me..

Coming here with a fixed set of standards and then insulting people for not seeing things your way is what?

Really don't mind your picking and choosing the benefits from this site. There is no extra charge.

This guy sounds very like 'paracharlie' that also just checked in and out.

"You do not become a "dissident" just because you decide one day to take up this most unusual career. You are thrown into it by your personal sense of responsibility, combined with a complex set of external circumstances. You are cast out of the existing structures and placed in a position of conflict with them. It begins as an attempt to do your work well, and ends with being branded an enemy of society." (Vaclav Havel, The Power of the Powerless)

@paracharlie, Civilians? Us versus them? Are you a member of Oath Keepers, have you reaffirmed your oath?

I pray you fulfill your oath before you lay down, take one with you. Dying quietly is what they want of us.

Good people ought to be armed as they will, with wits and Guns and the Truth.

So... a guy walks up to you with a gun and says he is going to rape your wife in front of you, what exactly are you going to do with your hands? Not saying it's impossible but I'd rather even the odds.

I think you are a word toting extremist, coming into this forum spouting off as you wish. You don't need to carry your words everywhere you go, leave them at home and then bring them out after you decide you need them... :banghead:

This statement right here tells me that this person has NEVER been in a situation where he has ever needed either. I have never been in a gunfight but from what has been written the gun is never big enough and you are always wishing for a larger mag, etc..etc. From his first post whenever "something happens" there is so much security there that it is handled with just "hand to hand" and I bet that they win every time so he feels that he is "the man". I myself have been trained in hand to hand and in fact I used to have a school but....... I ALWAYS carry when I can because there is always someone faster, stronger, better trained, younger. You take two street fighters that are use to working together and have a lot of experience and this guy would learn real quick the need for a side arm.

You know. Your opinion on this would carry more weight if you could articulate yourself. And, we have other threads for this type of stuff.

In any case, the list is for people to be fully informed of the wishes of all property owners, Oneida nation included. If they don't want people carrying there, that's fine, we'll abide. However, they must deal with the choices you make just like the rest of us, and that may mean losing business over the decision is one of the natural consequences of that decision. The list is nothing to do with the Constitution, and a lot to do with making choices and dealing with the consequences thereof. So don't be calling US "crazy", you are the one that lacks a fundamental understanding of how the universe works.

If that makes me an "activist" so be it. I call it a "commonsensist" because it's regular old common sense that comes with life experience. When I do stuff, other stuff happens. Simple.

Just one final point, you are not doing yourself personally any favors. It's really easy for your comments to be bad for your employer and they are probably not particularly happy with your writing ability, what you are saying or that you are speaking for the organization. Unless they know you are here posting it's an imprudent move to make. Security guards don't make crap for money elsewhere, even the gun carrying kind and if you have a good job after 10 years (meaning, no experience doing something else) you take a big personal risk posting like this and certainly are not displaying the professionalism required to carry a gun and protect others. You could very easily get outed, and with your writing style I bet you'd be on a short list of two or three people. They'd figure it out.

I was at St Luke's today and while coming into the hospital from the garage, nothing on the doors. When I had to walk to another building to get to the right place, posted in the front. Way to not post correctly!

add Wilmot Mountain Flea Market to the list.

Nick from Wilmot Mountain Flea Market informed me guns are not allowed. This is in Wilmot Wisconsin. I'm still trying to get him to reverse his decision.

Sterling House Assisted Living - - - They have a PICTURE FRAME with the following...."No Firearms Allowed in our Community" It's actually a print on colored paper that is in a picture frame on a table as you enter the building. And if you don't look around as you enter, you will never see it. I guess with the thousands they charge each resident each month, they just can't afford a real window sticker.

Probably required by something like DCF 57 GROUP HOMES DCF 57.09  Weapons. No weapons, firearms, or ammunition may be on the premises. I believe that a state licensed facility is prohibited weapons on the premises.
