I am curious. Will you be there? Unarmed?

Ken

He lives on the other side of the state.

I know he does.

He may not realize what a serious fight we wage with trying to get hotels to realize their anti-gun policies are unproductive. Buying their banquet facilities with a check from the NRA basically cancels out a year of our efforts.

Thank you for making the point that shows why this is a real and serious issue here. There is, I guess, a good chance you are correct that wrightme does not understand the situation here at the pointy end.

I have not planned a 400+ mile trip to attend.

You and I are both making the same final choice about this function. Good to see you aligned with us.

The point is to make the point - if you believe in carrying a gun (open or concealed), there is no reason to patronize an anti-carry establishment.

If my daughter were to propose holding her reception in such an establishment, I would convince her of the folly of that decision (she shoots). If she insisted, I would not contribute any funds to pay for the reception.

FoNRA and their "local Nevada chairperson" dropped the ball.

P.S. Although I am new here, I discovered that the 'ignore list' is a great place to relegate our local contrarian.

Do you always ignore opinions that are not in lockstep with your own?

Do NOT make the mistake of assuming that I don't understand reality, based upon my difference of opinion.

Oh, you chose to not make a long trip to an event that you do not have time to attend? Or did you choose to not go to an event because you do not like them?

Same result.

I don't know if you've ever been down here or not, but we have banquet facilities up the yin-yang here. 4-1/2 weeks out is nothing when it comes to finding one, especially in this economy.

That is a statement you should present to the area rep and to the banquet committee. If you really want to have an effect, get the venue changed. THAT will have an effect. Carping about it here won't.

So discussing our reasons for not attending a firearms-prohibited NRA event is "carping". Did I join the wrong forum? Maybe I misunderstood the word "forum."

It is not my place to change the venue. It was my place to decide whether or not to go, and I further did the NRA a service by informing them why I will not attend or donate at this venue. In reality, there is no excuse for this venue. It is WELL-KNOWN in this town that Stations Casinos, as the largest casino property holder, is anti-gun. To have it be chosen as the venue meant that several people, including locals, were involved and decided it was okay.

There is nothing wrong with letting other folks on this forum (a forum dedicated to assertion of firearms freedoms) know my feelings on the matter. I would not criticize you if you went. That is your choice.
