Peaches will be quite welcome. There is an off-leash dog park where s/he might make some new friends. Between Zeus and the Wee Beasties there is still one large bone unaccounted for. After that there will still be choice parts for other canine friends to either play with or have taken home to them.

Just had a call from the pitmaster. Everything is a go for a week from tomorrow. I might have been able to talk the guy(s) doing the cooking into bringing their BBQ guns.

Seriously - it's a BBQ. Everybody who shows up carrying will be carrying their BBQ gun, right?

Food service is targeted for 4 PM. We have Shelters 4, 5, and 6 at Dorey Park all day - so come out early and spend some time working up an appetite. I've been informed that one person is seriously considering bringing their fly rod and will be trying to annoy the fish. There's a playground for little ones of all ages. There's an off-leash dog park for the four-footed friends. (Not sure if they have a separate area for lizards, snakes and/or spiders.)

I'll be there at 6 AM (not actually awake, but physically present) so the BBQ folks can get set up and start cooking. If you are thinking about coming early please have pity on me and bring coffee (extra sugar, extra cream).

Early afternoon is a great time to arrive unless you plan to partake of the many other recreational opportunities at the park and the rest of Henrico County - or really get off on watching pig turn into pork.

The bribe to the weather people appears to have been sufficient - forecast is for the mid-60's to low-70's. Somewhere between a down parka over polar expedition-level polypropylene, and longjohns under flannel shirts and flannel-lined jeans for you folks not blessed with Northern European genes.
