The question was raised about Concealed Carry. They are fine with that, as long as you don't shoot with that gun.

You're missing the point. THis is not concealed carry dot org. You might want to check where you're posting.

Actually I think you're missing a great opportunity to reach up to 200 people that come to these events. And missing the opportunity to show how many people support the open carry to the range manager.

You missed the opportunity to support a 2A range instead you promoted an anti-OC range. This is not our event and you guys obviously even advertised it as an anti-OC range. You can't weasel your way out of responsibility yourself. Maybe you guys (who organized an OC event) should have had that conversation. You still miss the point. It must not have been high on your list of priorities.

You are absolutely right! We did not take the opportunity to find a range for our event that supports Open Carry.

Next year we will do a better job at that. We needed a place close to home, a large area for us to gather, and a place to shoot. The place we used to have is no longer available to us.

We have had a good relationship with the park, and decided to use it.

I am sure they would like to talk to anyone who wants to call them on thier open carry policies. I have done so, and am going to again in the future in person.

Please do not go if this is your mindset. This does no good. We effect our change through education, not by defiance. I speak for my personal view here, not for MOC; but if I am there and see this I will be among the first of those that will personally assist the management inescorting you from the facility. Did I mention I will have a smile on my face too? I will not stand for an individual destroying the hard work that has been laid out by myself and many others long before me just because they think their turds don't stink and are fit to be eaten.

This said, why are we busting these guy's chops about the range? Do we have first hand knowledge that they had access to a site similar in size complete with a range where OC is not prohibited? If not, then there is no valid reason to trash them. Are you going to the second amendment march in Washington DC? You can't have a firearm there, OC or CC. I didn't hear anyone calling Skip a sellout or a fake for supporting an event in a location where carry is not allowed. Where are the throngs of patriots boycotting the SAM? C'mon now. Take the emotion out and look at the logic.

As for discussing if the management can prohibit OC, bang away. I hope we come up with a sound answer to present to them. The letter of the law is the only thing that matters. Let's do what we do best here guys!

Plenty of open carry. And you really, really need to find something worthwhile to do with your time.

Hello, here are my two cents. First of all I have been involved with the Michigan Militia for 10 years now I am on the staff of SMVM. All previous Militia Field days (formerly called Tax Blast) as well as the 120+ training sessions since I have been involved. HAVE ALWAYS BEEN OPEN CARRY (both sidearms and rifles/shotguns)it was never announced because it JUST was. Currently we are training at a State Park and the most important thing is to continue to train. But also be seen as reasonable and professional and continue to train willing and sensible people.

We are not engaged in fighting for your rights we are not marching in a military sense on Lansing or Washington DC. We are training the average citizen to be better able to protect themselves and their families from crime, invasion, terrorism and tyranny. Everyone can not be high speed low drag American Jedi's but everyone can come and learn something. Nearly everyone can take a first aid or first responder class, get a pistol open carry, get a cpl, buy a rifle/shot gun, get a ham radio license, buy and store food water ammunition and medical supplies, attend a Militia meeting or picnic. Ok lets end the commercial here.

Just one last thing to imply that active Militia people are anti 2a or anti-any part of the Bill of Rights is intellectually vapid. Try being Militia all day everyday tell your boss your pastor all your family and neighbors. Be interviewed, video tapped, have a couple of chats with the FBI & DHS then try and tell me I'm anti 2nd Amendment.

There you go a lot of value for your money all that for 2 cents

and my 2 names are Frank J. LoPiccolo Jr. AKA ChuckWagon of the SMVM

You can OC ANYWHERE but the range --holy crap! I can't believe all the stink about this. If your patriotism runs so much thicker than everyone who supports this event then take charge! Lead us to the promise land! The full fight for freedom isn't going to just happen over night, like anything worth fighting for and believing in, patience and tenacity is what makes the change, not taking your ball and going home. Like what was stated earlier-- take your fight to DC, Chicago, or NYC and tell them how they are doing it wrong, how your rights aren't considered AT ALL. I for one am looking fwd to this event, I always loved tax-blast.

Seriously join the fun and join the fight for freedom, its a good time. SMVM and MM have always stood for, and always will support the 2A and all other Rights. Anyone who thinks any different has never really been a part of them or knows anything about them.

"Mike Murphy, chairman of the Livingston County Republican Party and undersheriff of the Livingston County Sheriff's Department, said he's happy the militia members are expressing their Second Amendment rights — although, as an undersheriff, he said he doesn't support the open carrying of handguns.

"I'm all for responsible gun ownership, but just because it's legal, does that make it a good idea?" Murphy said. "I don't understand some of the logic. If you want to carry a weapon, why not just get a concealed pistol license and be protected?"

What about those that can not obtain a CPL?

What other lawful activities does he think are not good ideas?

Would he think that voting for him would be a good example of a lawful activity that is a bad idea???

That's what I like about Republicans.
