For those of you wanting a more "up to the minute" news feed on HB-52 and other related issues in MD, you might want to subscribe to this FaceBook page:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Annap...of-State-Concealed-Carry-Permits/316015973344

As for how many PTCH's there are currently issued in MD, the state does not release this info to the public. However, if I remember correctly from that day when I was in the GA for testimony on HB-52, I think the MSP said it was approximately 86,000. Of those, less than 130 were issued to people who did not require the Permit for their occupation.

Yes, of 86,000, only 120-something Permits in Md are currently issued to "average citizens". I'm pretty sure those states are correct, based on what the MSP rep said, but don't hold me to that absolutely.

I'll be calling Del. Smigiels office on Monday to remind them that I wanted a copy of the proceedings on DVD when they become available. I think that the GA's media office is dragging their feet on releasing these videos because the "pro" folks did such an astoundingly competent job with their presentations, and the MSP displayed such gross contempt for the law and utter disdain for the LEA's of their neighbor states, that they really just don't want this to leak out into general circulation.

I'll keep on them though, and as SOON as I get my copy, I'll be burning copies and posting snippets on YouTube...

86,000 CCW permits active in Maryland? I don't believe it. More like a little over 5,000 (if that).

In short, email the hell out of Mike Busch and Joe Villario!

I got this from Facebook:

Page
Fans of HB 52: Maryland Recognition of Out of State Concealed Carry PermitsI spoke to the Chairman, Joe Vallario today about HB-52 about getting a vote on the bill and he is adamant that he is not even going to allow a vote on the bill. I really need all the people who will be helped by this bill to concentrate your efforts on Joe Vallario and Speaker Michael Busch. If Joe says No the speaker can order yes.

You didn't hear this from me, but the word on the street is that 2 of the most "anti" members of the House Judiciary Committee (the committee where this bill is being stalled) have MD PTCH's. I'm not going to say WHICH two, because I don't have proof, just word-of-mouth info, but it was told to me by 2 different pro-2A Delegates, AND a representative from "MD Shall Issue"...

Perhaps it's time that we publicly "Out the Bum's". Maybe then, they'd change their tune, or at least the people of MD would begin to see them for the hypocritical elitist bums they really are...

Hypocrisy is tyranny. Throw the bums out.

Is there any way to get that info if GA members have permits? I know they won't release it on a FOIA, but is there a lawsuit that can be made?

This is one of those situations that having CCW permit holder info as public information would be beneficial. Of course, the "may-issues" always keep the lid on it pretty well so the privileged few can remain anonymous.

That's the problem with Maryland officials, the "DO as I say and NOT as I do" attitude needs to come to an end. Maryland and Washington, D.C. are apparently joined at the hip. Neither serves the publicas they were elected to serve.

I think the only way to get the carry permit info on any given member of the GA would probably be to sue them as an individual for something, and then ask them if they have a permit, while they are under oath.

Of course, this is assuming that a judge would allow such a line of questioning, and that the Delegate or Senator would actually tell the truth under oath. Judging by the duplicitousness of their speech in the GA, I have reservations as to how truthful they would feel they needed to be under oath in court, especially if they were being questioned by one of the "plebes"...

The MSP will not release this information to anyone except a LEA inthe course of an investigation, or under a court order.

The hypocrisy and duplicitous elitism displayed by some of these people is mind-boggling...

Tom Marr still holds forth from 9 AM to noon on WCBM, 680 AM, and sometimes substitutes for Mark Levin, where I have had thepleasure ofhearing him several times.

HB 52 failed out of committee by a 12-10 vote. We were very close. Will try again next year. Most of the nay votes were from the asshats in Montgomey-PG-Baltimore City

I'll be calling Del. Smigiel tomorrow to thank him for his hard work, and to offer to help again next session. We CAN get this through, folks. It's going to be an uphill battle, but we're getting closer every year. And after the elections this fall, perhaps the deck will be stacked a little more in our favor...

It's too bad that it didn't make it out of committee and eventually become law. We'll keep trying. Hopefully Maryland will have a more pro-2A government after this year's elections; including a Governor that would not veto such a bill.

Thanks for all the work you did, too, Dreamer! About all I did was e-mail the heck out of the House, post to public Internet forums, and tell my friends in Maryland about it. I was basically an armchair activist on this one. You actually went to Annapolis and testified. Maybe next year I'll be able to join you out there.

By the way, in response to my most recent e-mail, to all House members about the petition for a vote in the full House, I received a letter via USPS dated March 31, 2010 from Del. Pat McDonough (District 7, Baltimore and Harford Counties). Here it is:

Dear Mr. ************,

Thank you for taking the time to express your support for legislation that would allow an individual carrying a license for a firearm from Pennsylvania, Delaware, or Virginia to also be valid and accepted in Maryland. I strongly support your position and have asked to be amended onto the bill as a co-sponsor. I agree with you and will fight diligently to have this important legislation brought to the floor of the full House of Delegates.

If I may be of any assistance to you in the future, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me. I will remain a vigilant supporter of the Second Amendment!

Serving the people,
<signed with a real pen>
Pat McDonough,
Your Delegate

I spoke with Delegate Smigiel on Friday to see if the video of the HB-52 testimonies was available yet, and he told me that he had it, but they were editing it down because it was so long, and would be sending them out soon.

I told him I would rather have the complete, unedited version, because I wanted more than just my own personal soundbite--I wanted EVERYONE'S testimonies, including the "other side". He agreed to send me a complete, raw, unedited version. Hopefully I'll have it next week.

I'll be cutting it up into segments that I can easily upload to YouTube, and posting the more interesting bits, like the part where the MSP rep says that the 2A doesn't apply in MD.

Stay tuned. I'll post here when I get the disc, and then I'll keep y'all updated as to when I get things posted on YouTube.
