The Federal gov't might issue "the order," but whether it would actually be followed by grunts in the street is another matter. I think our soldiers know why and whom they serve, especially those who have been to the sandbox, and I simply don't believe they would follow such an order. In the end, the Fed cannot simply "do whatever it wants," there is still a system of power checks in this country, the final one being a bunch of armed and pissed off citizens. Any attempt by this administration, or any other, especially in time of calamity, to institute "Marshall law" would very quickly degenerate into civil war.

I hope your right but,
The military didn't refuse the orders to take guns from citizens after Katrina.

Wishful thinking on your part. There might be some that will not obey orders, but they have a duty to the President Of The United States.

Yes, there are armed citizens but given the lax response post-assault weapons ban in the early nineties...I will put my money on complacency.

Thats funny the forum wont just let me post your quote with my comments It makes me type in the body also

That is pretty much what Marshal Law is.

Marshal Law; (WIKI)

is the imposition of military rule by military authorities over designated regions on an emergency basis—usually only temporary—when the civilian government or civilian authorities fail to function effectively (e.g., maintain order and security, and provide essential services), when there are extensive riots and protests, or when the disobedience of the law becomes widespread.esse

OK correct me if I'm wrong here, but I thought the perpetrators of that act were local LEOs and perhaps NG under the authority of state & local officials?

Dont forget that a lot of those "guys" were also Blackwater "police officers" Not too many people know that we have actually had the US government sanction the use of US PMC's (read as mercenaries) operate inside the US.

If that does not make you even the tiniest bit concerned about "national emergencies" I dont know what will...

just think, those are the guys who "were" representing a good majority of the US to the iraqis at one time. Now they are also performing work inside the US. After all the scandals and everything they changed their name and are now called XE Services, they are still functioning with pretty much everything the same way, just a different name.

This is why it pays to be informed about the past, can you imagine how you would respond if something similar to that happened here?

If we are lucky they will be as well equipped as they are in Iraq where they are given a busted up Glock, one magazine of ammunition. Blackwater comes to my doorstep they better be ready and bullet proof.

The UN has no teeth .........

One should never assume that something has no teeth. The UN might just be like that old dog in the neighborhood that you thought had no teeth, that is until one day you found them burried in the cheeks of your @$$.

Today this country is far more dependant on the good will of some of these p!$$hole countries that seem to be the majority of the UN. We need their resources in order to continue the lifestyle we have come to enjoy. If we don't put up with some of their $h!t we might well find them following the direction of some country like China or Russia. By holding our nose while we continue to support this international farce we at least continue to have a say in the direction they take. At least we still have our veto power in the Security Council.

As for any UN military force, aren't they the guys that stand by, watching the atrocities unfold (Bosnia, Darfur, etc)?

Yes, the UN have their unarmed forces standing around while people are being exterminated. Hitler got hell for it, but I guess when you just stand there, do nothing, and watch someone else do it it is acceptable.

China is what America has to worry about.

"One might ask, given the enormous presence in New Orleans of National Guard, U.S. Army, U.S. Border Patrol, local police from around the country and practically every other government agency with badges, why private security companies are needed, particularly to guard federal projects. "It strikes me...that that may not be the best use of money," said Illinois Senator Barack Obama." CBS

OK, I will bite.

I want you to show me what Obama has done with regards to the 2nd Amendment in the past two year in office that would lead me or anyone else to believe that Obama intends to sign this document. Also, I would like for you to show me some hard numbers in congress of congress-people that would actually vote for this UN garbage, remember, it takes 2/3 majority. In addition, I would like for you to show me in the Constitution or a SCOTUS case where the UN supersedes the US Constitution.

I await evidence to back up your assertion. Good luck in proving your argument. You have my full attention.

And how did the National Firearms Act of 1934 pass, the Gun Control Act of 1968; even his conservative holiness, Ronald Reagan signed a gun control bill in 1986. Your questions seem logical on the surface, but misses the point that it's not just about BHO himself, or who's in congress today.

When the Hillary Health Care bill died a fiery death in the mid-nineties, if I had predicted it would pass in 15 years, with Hillary herself as Sec State, I would have been laughed at by many. Alas, who's laughing now.

The UN wasn't around when hitler was around, the League of Nations was. Just small correction. But good point they both are useless organizations. Other than that I was going to stay out of this thread.

I know my history. I did not say Hitler was around when the UN was around. What I am doing is comparing Hitler's attempt at exterminating people with the UN standing around watching people be exterminated, but not at the same time.

Good grief, I love the quote, but it does get old reading over and over again. By all means, take up arms, you and your little posse of patriots.

That quote is one of the finest I've heard, and was ringing in my mind while I wrote the above post. At it's best, government can only recognize, enumerate, and protect freedoms. At it's worst government infringes, restricts, and finally crushes free people. Government cannot give what is already ours, they can only take it.

It is up to us to take it back; whether by ballot box, soapbox or cartridge box.

Gotcha!!! Good comparison. I sorry for the misconception.
The League of Nations was around though while he did this, so there was basically the exact same type of organization with a different name around.

The UN, didn't prevent Mao from killing even more than Hitler did, neither did they stop other socialist/communists from Pol Pot to Che Gueverra (the list is a long one) from killing people.

Franklin D. Roosevelt let his Uncle Joe (Stalin) kill millions too, so maybe the UN is just continuing with his ideals? LOL.

I am patriotic, I also read Freedom magazine and some of the other patriotic firearm magazines that recount about the Liberties our forefathers spilled their blood for on the battlefield. I am just saying, with no intent of being offensive, that when you write it, I get this picture of you in battle gear, in your house, reloading ammo every night, frothing at the mouth for the collapse of the Federal Government.

Let's get back to basics here and realize that there really is no vast conspiracy on the governments part to kick in our doors and make us all slaves to big business, Socialism, Communism or whatever.

We are in for a bumpy road in the coming years, and the last thing we all need is saber rattling, and people wringing their hands, hoping that all hell breaks loose on the streets of America so those who fear gun-grabbers can say "I told you so."

I never understood what the big hype was about Hitler anyhow. Stalin and Mao killed way more people. I think it was impassioned speeches that Hitler gave during black and white that allowed for him to be the face of "evil," whatever evil is. I personally have a difficult time making moral judgments about things that happened long before my parents were even born.

The unfortunate reality is that some people have to be taken down by the barrel of a gun and controlled by the barrel of the gun--because of that reality, the UN is worthless because their folks are not armed and when I think they are armed they are not allowed to do anything. I could not stomach standing by while women and children have their arms chopped off and are raped. There are plenty of savage countries in this world and we invade Iraq, nice call Bush!
