Marshfield police have responded to an "ongoing emergency situation" on North Central Avenue that poses an "extraordinary threat," according to a Wood County Dispatch alert sent out Friday morning.


Police have closed North Central Avenue north of Franklin Street to Ives Street, the alert said.


People are asked to stay away from the area.

Revolver? seriously?

I seen an officer very recently, (can't remember where) but noticed he was carrying a revolver also, and thought the same thing. I thought maybe he is one of them old fashioned guys. He was probably 40's or 50's I would guess. Maybe he was grandfathered in haha.

It's not unusual to see a security guard or armored truck guard with a revolver, but it's getting awfully rare for a cop around here. I was told that the last Madison cop to carry a revolver retired quite a few years ago.

One of the advantages of small town cop shops is the absence of department policy and its standardization. The officers may be allowed to carry what they like. Unfortunately both my cops think this Fallujah as they waddle and clank, burdened by paramilitary accoutrements.
