And if you think that any Democrat candidate for governor would be better than Walker, as they expressed in their last debate...
Take a look at the five page platform of the Wisconsin Democratic party, passed June 12, 2010:
http://d21971ua898zk6.cloudfront.net/39/dc/4/588/2/dpw_2010_platform_-_final.pdf
After nearly 2 pages of support of all type of rights, including "current undocumented residents", and statements of
We will work to ensure that basic civil liberties are forever preserved.
When government attempts to limit the rights of its citizens, the fundamental philosophy on which our nation was established is destroyed. We hold sacrosanct our civil liberties, including but hardly limited to freedom of speech, the right to privacy, the presumption of innocence, the principle of habeus corpus, and due process under law.
The bottom of page 2 has:
We support reasonable firearms regulations to ensure the safety of citizens and law enforcement officials. We support the right to hunt and bear arms. We support Wisconsin's concealed carry ban.
?HUNT and bear arms?
You'll notice the party platform does not say "right to
Keep and bear arms" as you would expect. After all, THAT is in the title of Section 25, Article 1 of the Wisconsin constitution. Since there is no firearm hunting in Milwaukee County, I guess i would be disarmed, when near home.
It is foolish to hope that they are not serious about supporting the principles in their party platform.
Adults often have to choose between 2 or more imperfect choices. In politics, unless voting for yourself, that is nearly always the case.
If we don't vote, we just let others make that choice for us.
You might as well just hand your ballot to a stranger. Please, make
your choice Tuesday.
I realize most of you know this, I'm just reminding you. No offense intended.
