As a sport shooter and hunter, Iowan Nathan Gibson was delighted when his two daughters, Meredith and Natalie -- ages 12 and 10 -- took up shooting as a passion and a sport.

But when a little-known law that bans kids from using handguns was used to stop them from shooting at a local gun range, that came to an end.

Good stuff and good luck Iowa.

We'll see how it goes. Watching this one pretty closely. There is a lot of opposition, like the article states, particularly from one elected official (cant remember her name), who said "We don't need toddler soldiers. It is our job to protect the children because a lot of parents can't."

“What this bill does, the bill before us, allows for 1-year-olds, 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds, 4-year-olds to operate handguns,” state Rep. Kirsten Running-Marquardt (D) said earlier this week, according to CBS-affiliate KCCI.

“We do not need a militia of toddlers.”

Have cops ever prevented one of these tragedies?

The only possible conclusion, for the anti-liberty crowd, is to confiscate all privately owned guns.

What was the outcome of this?
Current 2016 legislative session bill information here: http://iowafc.org/2016-legislative-session/
State of Parental Rights Act: Killed by Senate (death by committee intentional inaction, Steve Stodders / Judiciary committee)

More in-depth information, sorted as status updates: http://iowafc.org/news/

Stodders is looking almost as bad a Hogg now. still refusing to let the senate vote on bills, being willing to add infringing language, and yet claiming to be pro-rights. Also see this thread: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_8_42/594118_2016_IA_Legislative_Thread.html
