Been working a lot, got a day off today so I decided to shoot a couple rounds of trap. Strapped on my 1911 commander, slung my Beretta 12 Gauge, hopped on my Harley and away I went. I shot a 22 and a 24... (not bad) Chewed the fat with a couple old boys at the range. Felt like I had the road to myself, but did not notice anything unusual. Wish I could start my day off like that every day!

My fellow Open Carriers!

Last month we celebrated our nation’s birthday along with our “inalienable rights” that are protected by our great U.S. Constitution. Of course, we celebrated the spirit of liberty with the culture that started it all by joining with our fellow gods and goddesses…“Molon Labe!”

Once again, the Las Vegas Open Carry of Southern Nevada is celebrating the spirit of our constitution by exercising our 2nd Amendment right for another monthly meet up! It’s time to “lock n load” and join with your fellow law abiding open carriers by “walking heavy” at BJ’s Restaurant and Brew House located in Summerlin!

I've been OC'ing a lot lately because my CC permit is still being processed soooooo, last night I had dinner at Village Pub (Eastern/Wigwam). They have - HANDS DOWN - the best fish and chips anywhere in the valley. I was basically carrying Mexican style with the G19 shoved into my belt line left side appendix. Now before anyone flames me for carrying Mex, full disclosure: truth is I had the gun in a Dale Fricke Zack Holster so it was absolutely safe as the trigger is completely covered. The method is very subtle and discreet. If I were to CC and throw a shirt over this gun, well, it would virtually disappear on me. But unfortunately I can't "legally" do that until the permit arrives.

Anyway, reactions to my carry gun: NONE. Took my table, ordered, watched the Cowboys lose to the Chargers, paid up, gave the waiter a good tip. And then left. I do not know if anyone noticed the gun. Maybe they did, or didn't. Who knows. Who cares, right?

I've never been able to figure out where the term "Mexican carry" comes from. Every Mexican I know uses a normal holster.

By the time your permit arrives, you won't want it most of the time.

Oc'd at a couple of new places today. Went to get my plane ticket at A & A Travel Agency on Maryland Pkwy. As soon as I walked in the ladies asked my mother if my gun was real in Filipino(thinking I wouldn't understand). My mom replied yes and also told them that it was ok cause I was her bodyguard. After that business as usual. Went across the street to Goldilocks Restaurant for lunch. Lots of looks but no real issues. After that went to Seafood City(also on Maryland Pkwy). As my parents, brother and I were standing there waiting for our seafood to be cleaned a couple approached my mom and asked (in filipino) if my gun was real. Again my mom answered with the same reply as earlier. Then they started asking THOSE questions: Are you a police? You have a license to carry that? Have you shot anyone? My answers: No, I am not. It is legal to open carry my firearm in Nevada so I don't need a "license". and Thank God no!

United Blood Services

My son went to the United Blood Services on Decatur and Craig last month to donate blood. As always I Open Carried and noone said anything to me. Well I had to leave and when I came back to pick up my son, my son informed me that the employees there told him that my firearm was "scaring" the patients but none of them actually spoke to me.
Well, today my son donated again and this is what was on their window:

Again nobody said anything to me about my gun. They just offered me cookies and juice! So I took them up on their offer and scored me some Milano cookies!!!!!

So according to the sign Bruce Lee or anyone that can kill you with their hands ie chocking you to death can't give blood.....this would be everyone with hands. It kinda narrows the field of who can give blood.

That reminds me... the other day walking through Walmart I saw this kid in his karate outfit and I immediately felt uncomfortable and threatened. I mean, isn't "he" showing me that he is carrying a dangerous weapon out in public like that? I told him I was uncomfortable and to please leave that outfit at home or at least cover it. My gosh, can't you see that you're scaring people?!

Obviously sarcasm to show exactly how I feel when people, even those I know and like, say such things about my display of a "dangerous weapon".

Oh look, there's a pen in a politicians hand. Now that's scary!

I've been doing a bit of variety lately. I was having some work done on my EDC Kimber 1911, so I carried the S&W 625 for a week, including a couple trips to various PT's Pubs. Now, even though the 1911 is back, I've been swapping things around a little, just because I can.

Last night, I wore the Glock 20 10mm to Landry's for a quick after-work cocktail, then today I was sporting my new-to-me Colt Mk. III Trooper .357 as I won this month's ViMBAR vintage military rifle match at Desert Sportsman's. As usual, there were no issues whatsoever with wearing it to lunch afterward at BJ's Brewhouse.

Open carrying in the Pahrump Wal-Mart when a guy and wife checking out in the lane next to ours asked me what was I carrying. Started a long conversing on what he liked and what his wife carried. Then a young man guessing 14 years old with his mom behind us in our lane said that is a xd correct? I said yes he said he had shot one. I was impressed with the young mans knowledge on firearms. Next thing you know there was the three of us talking about guns, Front Sight and shooting. It was a fun conversation in front of several others talking about guns like a common every day conversation for everyone.
As we started to walk away is when I noticed the first guy and his wife standing in the lane next to ours had on a camouflage skirt. It was pleated like a Kilt. WTFD??? (What the FRONT DOOR of course). Thinking to myself holly carp saw a grown breaded man in a camouflage Kilt. Been to several county fairs, seeing 3 goat roping contest, watch grandma compete in the annual grease pig contest, and saw a one legged blind drunk try to kick the carp out a his weight lifting girl friend who won last years lifting contest however never seen a guy in a camouflage Kilt before.

Friday, I was asked about OC by the produce manager at Smith's and we had a long convo. He was very surprised that he didn't need gubbmint approval to OC but I made sure he knew concealed was bad news without a permit.

Sunday I stopped by Qdoba for a burrito after my practice session, no issues as usual, but returning to my truck in the parking lot I witnessed (and recorded) a toddler get struck by a car backing out of its parking space.

Went to Zaba's Mexican Grill for lunch on N. Durango. Place was full and was met with alot of looks. A couple of Metro officers approached my table and shook my hand. They said that it's not very often they see women carrying but they were glad to see me carry. I think I heard the "sigh" of relief from the whole place as those people witnessed an exchange of pleasantries between law enforcement and a carrying citizen.

That is awesome! I know we do not do it for anyone's approval, but Take it back a fey years and no one would have believed a po0st like this. They would be asking for P#'s etc. Las Vegas has been a success story so far!
