Hey guys, I'm new here but am a huge advocate of open carry. I have been reading about other states and some guys do open carry walks. They do this to inform and educate indiovudlas of their rights. I am just wondering if there is anything like this in the Charlotte area? Thanks!

You are always free to organize a Walk, or a meet and greet meal/picnic!

Okay I'll plan one. May I ask where a good starting point is? I'd definitely do one in the Charlotte, Huntersville, or Mooresville area. Lunch or dinner sounds good, but I'd also like to do a walk as well. Thank you sir!

I'd start by PMing Patriot88 and seeing if you two live close to one another. He's previously expressed an interest in various get-togethers.

I'd also suggest starting a thread on the main NC page, and seeing if there's interest expressed there.

bb62, open question...was, is there a purpose behind your walks you organized at the zoo in MO, and multiple university locations within Ohio?

ms whiskey, is there a purpose or point you wish to push with your 'walks' or just a social get together strolling through someplace in western NC.

You can call me John. My initials are JW, Juliett Whiskey came from a nickname. I'm fortunate to live in an area that is receptive to firearms. However, Mecklenburg county is notorious for their chp wait times. Many get their PPP yet they are waiting for their chp. The sheriff their isn't too "firearm" friendly. My goal is to help educate and let people know their right to open carry. I'm a huge advocate of training as well, so I'm open to offering advice on local places and where to start. I'm not the type to go looking for trouble, I just want to let them know they have options. A social get together would be cool as well.

Bb62, thank you sir I will do that.

Under the advice of my attorney, I'd better not speak about various things related to the St. Louis Zoo matter, but YES, there is absolutely a purpose to my Walks and other events. The purpose is described on the FB event page and other places where I post about each event.

For instance, at the most recent Walk, at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, this was the stated purpose:

"The purpose of the Walk is to inform and engage college students and the public about the right to keep and bear arms, including discussing how those rights are diminished by various laws - for instance, by making college campuses Criminal Empowerment Zones."

https://www.facebook.com/events/1701346233480167/

On the other hand, there is at least one organization in Ohio that has some walks apparently for the purpose of "showing the flag", seeking interaction, advertising themselves, and promoting camaraderie among fellow gun owners. Other walks they've conducted have had a more specific purpose.

John,
Sorry for the late response, but am out of the area until 5/26.
I live in Cornelius, and would be receptive to a walk, breakfast, lunch, dinner, picnic, etc.
I have been to 5 Guys Hamburgers in Huntersville (5 minutes,) and Prissy Polly's in Kernersville (1 hour.)
Both are open carry friendly, but there are many more.
If you can set something up, I will more than likely attend. IMO, dinner should be no earlier than 6:30, breakfast on the weekends.
When I return, I will get in touch.
Thanks
Frank
