I don't usually wear hats, and certainly not this kind of hat...

You aren't going to find any thing with a FOIA request about this. If there was something that they are willing to release via FOIA, it would have already been released, and reported in the media.

The only way to keep a story like this out of the media is to make it disappear, and FOIA is not an impediment to the kinds of folks who make things like this disappear.

I'm just saying... You need to go unofficial here, not official. Officially, it never happened.

Wenever could get those two in the back--VAopencarry and Tomahawk--to keep in step.

I am not inclined to think its a conspiracy. This happened the same night as the Dale City incident, so who knows.

I am inclined to think(know) a lot of news stories do NOT make it into the news. or someone jerked my chain.

One can narrow the search window just a little bit by selecting dates, "Calls for service between date x and date y.

My question is whether a volunteer FD is subject to FOIA.

Of course, police would have gotten the same call. Rather, I think they would have. So maybe a FOIA to the police would be effective.

Well ... yes the window could be narrowed. Of course you are presuming that this is an actual incident.

As to VFDs and FOIA, it depends. If they have any paid members then they would be covered, if they are all volunteer, then maybe not. But for a gunshot wound, a police report must be filed, by law.

It is a quandry. I am really starting to think there are Feds involved somehow, and the whole incident "never really happened"... even though it did.

Maybe I watch too much TV. Or maybe the rest of us don't watch enough!

Living in this area, I don't think it is too hard to believe that there are scenarios where this could happen, and there be no publicly available evidence whatsoever. Whether or not this is such a case remains to be seen, if ever.

If it is a clean-up, then the only thing left to happen is for the original sources to recant their story as a mistake, or misunderstanding. I don't think Feds would leave loose ends.

We need to find a private person who records scanner traffic in the area!

Maybe if the deceased were gang members they might be trying to keep things mum to protect the intended victims identitysafe from retaliation. Then again maybe the guy was undercover and they don't want to blow his cover yet.
