Administrators, please archive this, print it up, frame it, have it bronzed, and sent to the library of congress....Peter actually said encourage and permit in the same post.....
See, I told you I would keep up with VA posts....We do Love you Peter...Merry Christmas.
I've never said there was anything wrong with having a permit (Other than needing one at all) My best friends have permits, my Wife has a permit at my insistence. I had a permit until it expired.
What is wrong is using the permit to create a special class of gun owners.
Statements that CHP holders shoot more and better than non CHP holders or are more trustworthy or are more ethical hunters and pushing for special privileges do nothing but make the anti's stronger because we have a rather large percentage of the gun owning population taking the same "Kill the Bill" position as Saslaw and Marsh.
A CHP is just permission to hide the gun....nothing more should be considered.
Even states that have it right like Arizona and Alaska, have permits so people like Tanner can travel to other less enlightened states.
There is some justification in using the CHP to get guns in schools but if you go out of your way to insult non CHP holders when doing it, expect a lot of back door lobbying.
