Cinnamon Apple Log[/b]
Dough:[/b]
1 cup milk ¼ cup margarine
1/3 cup sugar 1 pack active dry yeast
¾ tsp. salt 1 egg (at room temp)
4 cups flour (divided)
1. In a small saucepan, heat: milk and margarine until warm.
2. In a large bowl, mix: 2 cups flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
3. Add milk mixture and beat at medium speed
4. Add egg, 1 cup flour, mix.
5. Add in remaining flour and mix well
Flour counter surface:
Knead dough 8 or 10 times or until dough is smooth and elastic.
Place dough in a greased bowl.
Cover with saran wrap and place in a warm dry place and allow to rise.
Note: (rises in about an hour or until it has about doubled in size)
Filling:[/b]
1/3 cup margarine ¼ cup sugar
1 Tbs. cinnamon 1 egg yolk mixed with 1 Tbs. of milk or water
2 20oz cans of canned apple pie filling (or your favorite fruit filling )
¾ cup confectioner’s sugar mixed with 1 Tbs. of milk until smooth
1. Mix- ¼ cup sugar and 1 Tbs. cinnamon
2. Roll out dough and spread with margarine
3. Spread fruit filling evenly over dough
4. Sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar mixture over the filling
5. Roll the dough up tight. Make 2 or 3 cuts in the top for steam.
6. Brush the top with the egg mixture and let rise for 1 hour.
7. Place in pre-heated oven at 350 degrees for 40 minutes
8. Brush top with confectioner’s sugar mixture
9. Let cool and serve warm.
It really is good, but plays hell with my wardrobe size!
