...STICK OUR HEADS IN THE SAND...
did you know Ostriches don't stick their head in the sand when their scared? first off, they don't get scared easy (they can kill humans). Secondly, their nests are dug in the ground. because of the extreme heat they have to turn the eggs often. (so from a distance in appears they've stuck their heads in the sand. In reality their just ignoring you and going about their business.)

thanks for this card though, its a great idea.

Nice, I'll be using it. Thanx.

BTW, I have a bit more room in my carry method, so I have a more detailed version. FYI:

WHY I CARRY A WEAPON

In Nevada, it is legal to openly carry a firearm.]I've taken gun training classes and regularly practice safe handling and operating. Having clarified that, there are many societal reasons I choose to be armed:
 • The police cannot be everywhere all of the time, so it's up to me to protect myself and those around me.]I can't depend on law enforcement for protection. Police are reactive, not proactive, and are minutes away when seconds are critical.
 • A gun is the only thing that puts a 68-year-old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year-old gang banger, or a 100 pound woman on equal footing with 220 pound mugger.]I believe I am LESS of a target for a mugging, with minimal risk of being more a target just because a criminal might want to take my gun away from me.
 • Being armed is a way of life and a lifestyle choice.]It is just like wearing my seatbelt .... I don't know if it will save my life, but it sure helps to be better prepared. While I would love to think nothing bad will happen to me when I am just running down the street to the grocery store in my nice ..... it happens to people all the time.
 • When I carry a gun, I don't do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I'm looking to be left alone.]I don't carry it because I'm afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid.
 • An armed society is a polite society.]I feel more secure now that I feel I can protect myself and those nearby if the need should arise. Therefore, my reactions to provocations now are very calm because there is no need for me to overreact.
 • Being armed is more of a social DUTY to me than a right.]Properly armed and trained citizens are the best deterrent to violent crime. EVERY mass shooting you hear about in the news could have been reduced in scope by the presence of just one law-abiding and well-trained armed citizen (i.e., gun-free zones are dangerous places).
 • Guns kill people like forks made Rosie O'Donnell fat. Guns cause violence as much as cameras cause porn.
 • I have decided in these hard and trying times that it's better to have it and not need it, that to need it and not have it. Today is definitely NOT a good day to die .... tomorrow doesn't look good either.

Welcome aboard OCDO Vegas Rick.

That is probably the best, concise compilation I have seen to date. I like it.

Fantastic!

I just read like 5 pages of the thread about a "Why I carry a gun" card that we can have when someone asks us why... I noticed that the topic got ridiculously off topic lol. So I just took matters into my own hands. I made a card! It's a 3.5"x2" business card type. Includes good moral answers to why you carry (front and back). All you have to do is download the files and print one set, put that set back in the printer and then print the other set (so that it gets on the back as well). It is a double sided card. Then just cut them up and keep them with you. Documents dont have to be adjusted at all. Depending on your printer, you will have to put the paper in a certain way to print on both sides of the paper.

What the front looks like:
WhyDONE.jpg

What the back looks like:
WhyBACK.jpg

I take credit for making the card, I DONT take credit for any of the things said on the card (except for grammical things that doesnt even matter).

These documents are Microsoft Word documents, so people with different word processing programs might have difficulty.

Here are the files:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/ujzze1je4gz/2aFRONT.docx

http://www.mediafire.com/file/mgjdg0mgwzo/2aBACK.docx

These next files are in PDF format for those without Microsoft Office:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/gmwdyqtkmgq/2aFRONT.pdf

http://www.mediafire.com/file/wnuyzzkz32z/2aBACK.pdf

Hope every one gets some education out of these! mind you they dont have every single detail due to the fact that every single detail wont fit on a business card.

I just downloaded the card, and going out to buy card stock, now. TYTYTY for doing this. I would like to believe in my heart that things like this would change some antis minds. It probably won't happen, but we can hope. Keep up the good work!

The original post is quite old and its author hasn't been on in about a month. I suggest that you PM him if you want him to update the links.

I agree to some of the points you mentioned here in bringing a gun. I just hope everyone would be a responsible gun owner like you.

Please keep them up after 50 positive comments.

Chalk one down, one at a time if people dissent, but you've got mine and 49 other positive comments before mine before you ever get there.

I left the OP a message letting them know what I did and offering to remove them should they wish. I can edit and update them if needed as well.

Thanks for the card idea. It makes me want to sit down and make my own. Have any of you that have used this card had any responses from recipients? Let us hear how people received them. What did they say; how did they react?
