Night before last --snipped-

It was such an awesome experience to talk to these children. They had HONEST questions about why I carried, and no per-conceived notions about guns or people that carry them. I walked away feeling like I made an impact on their psyches that would last forever.
Good experience and thank you for taking the time to educate them.

Please though, no wall of text next time - paragraphs are reasonably priced :p

Perfect, I am staying of freemont st. this time. Thanks for the heads up. Did you spend much time in there?

On 2 occasions I did spend quite a bit of time. I was with visitors from Detroit that wanted to tour the place and play a little slots. On most other occasions I simply used The D as the bathroom break and folks definitely noticed my oc in the bathroom as it's lit up so well. And also in the Coney in The D. But it should be noted that it has always been on the weekend when Freemont is hopping. Security is everywhere and I find it difficult to believe that they did not see my oc. Heck, they even held the door open for me once standing on my strong side. I get plenty of glares from patrons and bums at Freemont on the oc. Never an issue.

On a side note, a 6 foot 4 360 pound buddy of mine was also oc'ing down there with me once, but then decided on later visits to leave it in the car saying that he thinks it makes him to unapproachable by the ladies. "Yea, the gun's doing that", I said LMAO.

Spotted

I wasn't OC, but yesterday at Summit Racing I saw a guy with a holstered Glock and a knee length machete, camo pants and a shirt that said "I keep and bear arms" with a gun store listed on the bottom. Wonder if the guy is on here...?

Re: NV OC - how did it go?

I OC'd my sig p238 today, mainly because I was too lazy to get my xdm out of the safe. I was pretty amazed at how much more.comfortable the smaller gun was. I was actually able to use my right pocket! And the heat didnt seem so miserable because my pants weren't being weighed down by the gun. I just might have to oc it more often.

Just got back from a trip to Vegas and though I did carry my firearm to the Flamingo (concealed), I promptly secured the handgun with multiple locks and placed them in the hotel safe as i was plastered for 4 days straight... Upon leaving the Hotel on my trip home I did proudly OC from Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico and then shamefully had to conceal when going through Texas and then my home state of Arkansas...

Loved Freemont St.!!!! We stayed at the Flamingo but had the best time on Freemont... Glitter Gultch is where we hung out the whole night but I would advise not to go before 9pm as the day shift talent is severely lacking! lol

Staples in Henderson on Lake Mead

Well, I went into Staples this afternoon to take advantage of some their specials on school supplies. I went to the counter to ask the whereabouts of their notebook paper. The young man at the counter began to tell me where it was and in mid-sentence, he stopped and asked (loudly), "Is that a gun?". I looked surprised and said, "Why yes it is and I carry it here frequently." He sort of shook his head and told me the paper was on aisle 7. I noticed he was watching me as I checked out. The cashier was quite friendly and told me to have a pleasant afternoon.

Open carried at the Pahrump raceway. Saw another OCer. Asked him if he was on the internet. Judging from his answer, he had not been to close to a curser, said his wife was the computer person. I told him about OC.org anyways.

He said he had his CCW I said cool. Then he asked me what I thought was an unusual question for a Nye County resident and that was, did I get a blue card for my gun. I said no we do not need it as a non-Clark County resident.

He said the last CCW training suggested to get one to help keep out of trouble with Metro. I told him his instructor was full of it and did not know what he was talking about. I told him just guessing however, 90% of CCW instructors are not friends of open carry and will give out incorrect information.
About that time, the races started up and end of conversation. It boggles my mind on what drives some many instructors to give out incorrect information and add their opinion as fact.
I need to hit Mac up for some business cards I would like to have the opportunity to let the guy know about one CCW instructor that tells the law as it is.

I hear ya. There's only been about 2 or 3 people in a year of oc that have argued with me over it about the laws but all of them kept saying, "Well that's what my instructor said in my CCW class".

No information is simply ignorance while misinformation is propaganda.

And yet another argument AGAINST the value of firearms licensing. It has NOTHING to do with safety.

I OC'd the Kimber 1911 last night for the first time in a while. It felt good. I'd forgotten how much lighter it is than the S&W 625 I've been carrying lately, especially since it is an alloy-framed 1911.

VegasPassat and I went to PT's again last night. The bartenders know us. The new bartender had seen my gun before but had never before noticed VP's. Later in the evening, she told us some guy claiming to be a retired cop (or something like that) asked her if she was okay with us being there. She gave a great answer, something along the lines of she didn't know the law, but she was told by upper PT's management that OC was specifically okay in all PT's and that she had no problem with it, and especially no problem with us. She said he tried to warn her about how "iffy" it was, and she basically told him it was no different than any other customer. I think she enjoyed telling us the story. And by the time she was telling us the story, VP's girlfriend had joined us and she was OC also. The bartender says that PT's big owner is pro-gun and a member of "gun clubs." I'm glad I started giving PT's my business and I've upped it a bit lately, too. I'm glad they are all over town, and now I feel even better about going into one that I don't already know the staff.

OC'd the S&W again today at the range for a bit, and then to the Boulder Dam Brewing company for lunch and a great black & tan pilsner/stout. The owner and I exchanged friendly barbs about how my gun better not scratch his chair and how his chair better not scratch my gun.

Today at Wal-Mart at Nellis and Craig. Saw a couple of other OC'ers in the store while shopping.

Also had my Glock 19 on the entire time we were camping up north and at the ghost towns we visited. The only weird feeling was while at the semi ghost town of Belmont, NV. As I was walking up the the old cemetery a guy was walking out. He saw my gun, he left the gate wide open, got into his car rather quick and drove away. California plates on the car.

That is intresting. PTs is owned by Golden Gaming which also a year or so ago became owners of 3 of the larger casinos in Pahrump. They do not allow Ocing. I was ran out of one never to return.

With that said great that she went toe to toe with the guy. Las Vegas PTs Pubs is on the top of my go to list.

Took my mom the eye Dr. Sunset and 215. Was there for about one and a half hours. Went back with my mom while they were examining her. Not one concern or strange look at my firearm.
Went to Famous Dave’s Blue Diamond just west of Bass Pro. Never a problem and none today. The very nice server asked if I wanted another beer usually just saying no this time I decided to hopefully to educate. I said thank you however no more, I said it is legal to drink while carrying a firearm however not over the BAC of 0.1 water would work. At least there is one in that establishment that knows it is legal to have a gun and beer.

Aye, pistola!

While in line a couple of Mexicans standing behind me speaking Spanish (which I don't speak) said one to the other, Aye, look, pistola. I busted up. It sounded like something from an old spaghetti western. They didn't say it loud or with fear in their voices. More like mild surprise and approval.

They asked me about a carry permit and I told them no need in NV as long as it's not hidden. They were shocked by that. Commented on how cool it looked and how I guess that's what you give a bad guy if he asks for your wallet and making a bang bang sound. They really were funny. Two short fat Mexican workers in shorts and work boots who were as wide as they were tall and with the thickest accents speaking about and making pistola actions. It was hard not to laugh. I really enjoyed it.

One did say that in Mexico it is a $10,000 fine for carrying a pistola. I said, "Well that must be why it's so much safer in Mexico". We ALL laughed a good one. A very pleasant experience open carrying my pistola.

Awesome experience with a lady with three kids from 6 to 10 in age. The lady very politely asked me if I minded answering her youngest son's question, "Am I carrying a gun to exercise my 2A rights". Wow! I could not believe that. It was not at all what I expected to happen as I saw them eye-balling me everytime I walked up to the buffet.

She went on to explain how her oldest is 19 and in the service and that she forbade him from ever playing with toy guns as a child, but has learned better and now allows her kids to ask questions and make up their own minds - not trying to protect them with "ignorance". Her words! I was blown away. I spent a little time explaining to the 4 of them how I would gladly cc if it were not required to "pay for it" as that no longer makes it a right. That as our birth right as Americans we have the "right to own and carry guns" with no stipulations about if you have a thin piece of material covering it or not and that this oc is my little protest that rights are not to be paid for. It was all very kind and a little simpler than probably what I'm making it sound like here. The 3 kids were glued to what I was saying. The mom was supportive and added a little clarity where needed. By far the VERY BEST oc experience EVER for me. My wife was there as well and could not believe how positive it all was.

Just maybe, knowing how little minds are shaped by every little event in their lives, I made a positive difference. They will all be voters some day and I mentioned "Constitutional Carry" a few times saying, "it is your right". Mom said, "absolutely".

Ya know, where are all the anti-gunners that would otherwise be crying about a mad gunman in a child restaurant endangering the children? Ya won't see this VERY positive experience here on the news.
